new features you're looking forward to
what are you thoughts after playing the demo? what features do you think are going to be a blast and alot of fun?
my first impression of it was its amazing i love the original and this is pretty good so far.

the new features i am very happy about is that mages finally are useful and a single cast of a spell doesn't stop combat for 2 minutes, i think it was a ps1 limitation that did this but if you put in alot of hours in this game like i did, watching spell animations was not fun.

some of the stuff we can't see that i hope is still there, getting the eternal sphere immediately after the tournament made the game childs play but was fun blasting enemies away for the rest of the game.

i hope that you can win the tournament now as well that would be awesome.

lastly i hope all of the old skills that you buy from the vendors are all the same, with some new ones aswell, except flip, flip can go die in a corner

i haven't tried fishing yet but i'm going to wait for full release for that

Skills sync between front row team and back-row team.
Straight on stun-locking the enemies (not a new thing, but eh, it's nice to pull off).

I'm excited for pretty much everything personally.
Mages finally not making me go for a bathroom break while Celine casts Meteor Swarm is nice, I do hope we can still get the eternal sphere but I will probably pick it up and not use it for some challenge runs.

I doubt we can win the tournament, while it wouldn't change much it is pretty "yeah this guys just better".

From what I saw from one of the trailers, it looks like all the skills are the same (at least in effect), Flip is now called backstab and isn't as bad as it was, it teleports you behind the enemy rather than you walking around them. Its fine imo. Still gotta make sure to disable float when you get it though :D

Most of the skills and places were renamed and share the same names as they did in Second Evolution. Not really a problem but you might want to read the skill/item descriptions to make sure you are aware of the renames. Kinda annoying for some items, especially customize.

Fishing looks good, I hope its more useful than just a method to get Fol, but who knows. Item prices have changed so perhaps fishing might be a nice way to grind Fol if you are struggling, hard to tell.

I'm really looking forward to... the game :D SO2 is my favorite JRPG, its so fun. I really like the changes to combat, I love the changes to spellcasters, fast travel, skipping cutscenes (seeing as I plan to do a few playthrus will be nice, I already know the entire story), and the "One room" dungeon style. I'm hoping to enjoy some challenge runs (the first of which will be Spellcasters only, GL me) and to experience the world through a brand new lens, new treasures, new stories (apparently) and new super bosses (the raid monsters).

I don't usually pre-order games, but this game was an instant "drop 100 on the switch store to top up my account to make sure I can afford the game the instant it releases" I might even buy it on Steam later on during a sale if I want to grind out the achievements.

Everything, to be honest. This remake has a lot of love and care behind it, and as someone who played the original game and the PSP game over 10 times in total, spotting all the differences and improvements the remake is doing is amazing.

  • The reworked Arts / Symbology (spells with multi-hit now makes Mages more viable in general), as well hitboxes for each individual attack (Ernest apparently is actually good in combat now).
  • The many quality-of-life changes, such as Fast Travel, Private Action Mode (instead of having to leave town), improved Item Creation and map tracker.
  • The passive skills now being available from the start, and Guilds now giving quests for Item Creation. Plus the Challenge Missions, which are a great way to become overpowered pretty early in the game (something the original game also had).
  • The new Specialties and Super Specialties.
  • The new content. Dataminers found that there'll be "world bosses" (called Raid Enemies), and also "Ultimate Weapons" (weapons more powerful than the ones found at the Maze of Tribulations / Cave of Trials).

I'm not expecting new story content since both the English and Japanese voice-acting recycles the Second Evolution's version, but if we get new post-game dungeons and new bosses, I'll be more than happy. Heck, if we even get post-game DLC introducing new content I'll buy in a heartbeat.

Crafting.

Fishing is great, at first the item selling prices were daunting, but during the demo you can walk all the way to the northeast coast and fish there. You can catch marlin there pretty often and they sell for 3k. Good early money.
Also there is fishing spot outside the mountain dungeon (people used to access it early and powerlevel) that drops treasure chests like crazy.

Like ElCid said, i'm excited for pretty much everything, especially the combat system since it was my only hang up with the original game despite still enjoying it.

well put, i spent many hours/playthroughs on this game loved every aspect of the game except for the lack of side quests or mingames, i'm not counting bunny racing as a minigame or pickpocketing. so to see them adding stuff in that doesn't affect the story is great. now if they could only apply this thought process to another square game thats currently being remade....

multiplayer?
minigames for orchestra (the better you play the better your crafting and cooking are)
food buffs that last for a certain amount of battles or time?
hard mode dungeons? just a one time through kinda thing.
just some of the things i can think of that they could add

anyone know if there is a NG+ and will it just scale to your current level or will it be a set level?

I doubt multiplayer will be made a thing, it would be such a niche audience for that, and only really be able to function in combat.

I wouldn't mind minigames for skills or such, as long as they are optional.
Food buffs need a bit more explanation in game, we can see some foods give an effect in battle. Does that stack with different foods on the same character, does it stack with different characters or is it one food total per battle? Does the buff expire if we leave the current map, such as by fast travel?

Hard mode dungeons would be neat, especially when you can access the CoT, being able to revist old dungeons with a higher difficulty/reward would be pretty cool to experience.

I don't think anyone can do more than just speculate about NG+. I believe there will be, as otherwise completing 100% of the item encyclopedia (and enemy) is impossible. Also there is an ending count in the stats menu, so either that has to be account wide, or require multiple NG+ runs to get all 86 (assuming thats counting the special endings)

Did they fix Head Splitter?
Poyzo Oct 24, 2023 @ 1:32pm
The combat: the enemy shields, teleporting behind enemy to attack and the raid bosses.

Judging from some of the trailers where Claude is seen using it, apparently so.
MegasonicZX Oct 24, 2023 @ 3:09pm
What was wrong with it?

Fishing.

Have to add chain battles into the list.

Random encounter is so gonna be so fast and addictive now, wish they all can be fought in one battle i.e. Tales of Arise tho.
