Straight on stun-locking the enemies (not a new thing, but eh, it's nice to pull off).
Mages finally not making me go for a bathroom break while Celine casts Meteor Swarm is nice, I do hope we can still get the eternal sphere but I will probably pick it up and not use it for some challenge runs.
I doubt we can win the tournament, while it wouldn't change much it is pretty "yeah this guys just better".
From what I saw from one of the trailers, it looks like all the skills are the same (at least in effect), Flip is now called backstab and isn't as bad as it was, it teleports you behind the enemy rather than you walking around them. Its fine imo. Still gotta make sure to disable float when you get it though :D
Most of the skills and places were renamed and share the same names as they did in Second Evolution. Not really a problem but you might want to read the skill/item descriptions to make sure you are aware of the renames. Kinda annoying for some items, especially customize.
Fishing looks good, I hope its more useful than just a method to get Fol, but who knows. Item prices have changed so perhaps fishing might be a nice way to grind Fol if you are struggling, hard to tell.
I'm really looking forward to... the game :D SO2 is my favorite JRPG, its so fun. I really like the changes to combat, I love the changes to spellcasters, fast travel, skipping cutscenes (seeing as I plan to do a few playthrus will be nice, I already know the entire story), and the "One room" dungeon style. I'm hoping to enjoy some challenge runs (the first of which will be Spellcasters only, GL me) and to experience the world through a brand new lens, new treasures, new stories (apparently) and new super bosses (the raid monsters).
I don't usually pre-order games, but this game was an instant "drop 100 on the switch store to top up my account to make sure I can afford the game the instant it releases" I might even buy it on Steam later on during a sale if I want to grind out the achievements.
I'm not expecting new story content since both the English and Japanese voice-acting recycles the Second Evolution's version, but if we get new post-game dungeons and new bosses, I'll be more than happy. Heck, if we even get post-game DLC introducing new content I'll buy in a heartbeat.
Also there is fishing spot outside the mountain dungeon (people used to access it early and powerlevel) that drops treasure chests like crazy.
I wouldn't mind minigames for skills or such, as long as they are optional.
Food buffs need a bit more explanation in game, we can see some foods give an effect in battle. Does that stack with different foods on the same character, does it stack with different characters or is it one food total per battle? Does the buff expire if we leave the current map, such as by fast travel?
Hard mode dungeons would be neat, especially when you can access the CoT, being able to revist old dungeons with a higher difficulty/reward would be pretty cool to experience.
I don't think anyone can do more than just speculate about NG+. I believe there will be, as otherwise completing 100% of the item encyclopedia (and enemy) is impossible. Also there is an ending count in the stats menu, so either that has to be account wide, or require multiple NG+ runs to get all 86 (assuming thats counting the special endings)
Random encounter is so gonna be so fast and addictive now, wish they all can be fought in one battle i.e. Tales of Arise tho.
