I normally HATE Square re-releases, but...
These 2.5D remakes are AWESOME. If this is as good as what they did with Live a Live, I'm sold. Please don't make the difficulty easier though, or at least gives us a Hard Mode if you do.

Second Evolution was already a bit easier with the inclusion of a standard combo. Anyway difficulty settings are confirmed.

I only hope they don't butcher the script, Live A Live is the poster child for a great remake getting ruined with unnecessary censorship.

Cool. The graphics look a million times better, so a Hard Mode is all I need to say it's better than the original.

Really? You hate them? The Saga Frontier remake was stellar and added in all the cut content. The romancing Saga remakes are amazing. (even the Minstrel's Song one which is a miracle we even got since it's so obscure) The FF pixel remasters aren't perfect but are still great (I hate some of the graphical choices though) Even the Front Mission one looks amazing. Give some of the others a chance they're really good.

SE's more minor games generally have good remasters but the Pixel Remasters are generally quite lacking and are at best sidegrades to other ports of the same games, while the remaster of FF8 was an absolute botch job and what they did to Chrono Cross was insulting.
You're off your rocker with Front Mission though, the remake of Front Mission 1 looks absolutely horrendous, it's incredibly cheap 3D that looks significantly worse than the PSX or even SNES versions of the original, and they made zero improvements to the gameplay or story in a game that desperately needed it. Thankfully the FM2 remake already looks like it's getting more effort put into it.

I mean all the crap FF mobile ports, and the Pixel Remasters burned me because of the stutter causing my eyes to bleed. It's strange how an NES emulator runs FF3 a hell of a lot smoother than the PC versions. The Romancing Saga games had the same issues, terrible, lazy versions that were poorly optimized for PC from console. SaGa Frontier DOES look good though.

Yeah I heard the 3-hit auto attack makes everything easy af compared to the PS1 1-hit counter-part. But now we also have Out-Of-Party asissts and extra-stun locks based on combining hit-stun lmao

The 3-hit combo in SE is actually a mixed bag; it has a longer delay at the end of it than the single attack in the original did so it leaves you more open and that actually makes later game enemies a lot harder to deal with because they can punish that opening. The PSP version also replaced the jumping attacks with poking attacks for some reason which were practically useless.

Was about to mention this. There's a bit of nuance to the version differences that people often gloss over. The late game enemies are brutally punishing with that delay window.

If there was any Square game I wanted redone it was this one. Having owned the original PS1 version (pretty sure I was purchasing anything having to do with being a RPG back then and the PS2 era ((I owned Beyond the Beyond ... that aught to tell you))) sadly I no longer have it.

While I enjoyed the other Star Ocean games this in my opinion was the best of the best. I just hope they give it the justice it deserves.

I hope they have tropheys like in till the end of time. I never played the second evolution psp version, but i did play the ps1 version back in the day. I loved the trophey's you get in Till the end of time and hope they apply that system in this game.

I was the same way. I was buying up everything back then because I had my first high school job and 50% of my money went to JRPGs and 50% went to weed.

Beyond the Beyond is unfairly ripped on. I loved that game to death and used to beat it once a year just to piss off my friend who thought it was a trash game.

I went to Best Buy at least once or twice a week looking for RPGs. I visited Walmart and shops that sold used games as well. Managed to get Romance of the Three Kingdoms Pt. 2 brand spanking new from one that actually looked for games for you. Yeah, it cost extra but it was worth it if you really wanted a game badly.
