GTX 1070 equivalent firestrike result on a gtx 1080 rig
Hi I am getting scores around 16300 which from what I have read is supposed to be representative of gtx 1070 performance not gtx 1080 performance. My CPU is I 6700k @ 4.0 GHz and 16 GB DDR4 RAM at 2.1 MHz. I have been feeling that it hasn't been living up to the performance I have been expecting which is why I purchased this software. Any Ideas? Thanks.

Try running DDU to wipe your current drivers and reinstall. I personally recommend not install geforce eperience as it has often caused problems for me.

What is your graphics and cpu score though?

So you can compare, results on my i7 4790 with 2x 980ti's - http://www.3dmark.com/fs/10914940
Graphics Score
22 991
Physics Score
11 654
Combined Score
7 307

Score 16,898

I did overclock a bit last night by 200 MHz. ~16300 was what I was getting without overclock. I have seen scores of 21,000 on a single gtx 1080. That is what concerns me

I wouldn't worry about it, your score is about right for a 1080.

The overall score is a mix of the cpu and gpu score.

An i7 6700 overclocked to around 4.5ghz and a 1080 oc'ed to over 2000mhz would score about 20,000.

There is nothing wrong with your system.

Nevermind. Did a little bit more research on these scores and understand them a bit better. Now it just means my CPU sucks. Low physics score. Really regret not getting an overclocking friendly motherboard now. Oh well at the time I did not know about it. New to building PC's.
Thanks for your input. Hopefully the overclock on the GPU will help stabaliize my performance where it is a problem. I can't do anything about the CPU. In a way it is good to know my graphics card is not defective or fake. The vendor sent me the wrong version I ordered a Zotac Amp! editon gtx 1080 from Amazon and recieved a Nvidia Founders editon. I kept it because it supposedly uses 70 W over 25% less TDP at the cost of a little bit of performance and I wasn't sure I was even going to try overclocking before I replaced the card. I just wish I could match the performance I am seeing in people's videos with gtx 1080's for several of my games. I guess a lot can happen with patches and updates that can affect the stability of games too, so it may not even be on the hardware end. Thanks again.

I would send it back.

Founders edition cards don't have the best cooling. So what happens is the card lowers the clock frequency when the gpu reaches around 83°C to prevent it from going any higher.

That can affect your performance quite a bit. Aftermarket cards usually have better cooling and therefore do not get as hot so are less likely to be affect by thermal throttling.
I've never had it go past 73 unless I really tried. I modified my cooling profile plus my case is well ventilated. It only went up to 77 by the end of the firestrike stress test with an overclock to 2076 MHz. Witcher 3 stays under 73 at all times all settings maxed but hairworks off and foliage distance set to high 3440x1440. GTA V stays in the low to mid 60's with most settings ultra.
