Xenonauts Won't Download!

A number of people have posted on the forums or emailed the dev team directly letting us know that you're not able to download the game after buying it - that the Steam connection just times out on you.

Unfortunately, this is not something us developers have any control over. Once the files are uploaded to Steam then we have no further input into the game distribution process...so this is an issue with Steam's servers rather than anything to do with us. It is therefore a little frustrating that Steam customer service keep directing your queries to us!

However, there are two possible solutions we know of to the issue that may help you out:

1) Change your Steam download servers to those of a different country, then restarting Steam, can often help. You may need to cycle through a number of different countries before finding one that works though - someone from the US emailed me to let me know that Cambodia worked for them, so distance may not matter that much.

2) There is also this potential solution, found online: "Under Steam's folder, deleting everything !!!EXCEPT!!! steam.exe and steamapps will allow Steam to regenerate and rebuild itself. It's cleared up a number of strange problems like this before. You may want to check for the ACF in steam/steamapps ending in 211420.acf and delete that as well."

Sometimes the game randomly also starts downloading properly after 24-48 hours. If you've tried the above and it's not worked and you've waited more than 48 hours, please send us an email at chris (at) xenonauts.com and we'll try and find you a key for an alternative download service instead.

My connection also timed out....a lot. So I watched a movie. Steam your really "cool". Wish I could rip people off and get away with it.

I am in US it downloaded half a game then timed out and asking to move the game to the top of the queue even though I have no games in queue... weird.

Xenonauts.exe was recognized as Gen.Heur.FKP.5 from Bitdefender!
After set the steam/downloading Folder to the Whitelist i have the same Download Problems(Harddisk Error).Never reach 100%!Changed Countries and Branch.But wont work!

Problem Solved.Game is Working Now!

I solved this for me. My problem seemed to be a painfully slow connection. I couldn't get this download to work, even cycling through the different download servers.

Solution:
I unplugged my landline connection, plugged in my mobile phone and activated USB tethering. Then I started the download - tadaaa, it enqueued nicely.
Then I unplugged my phone, re-plugged my regular connection, and the download resumed nicely.

If anyone also has this problem and no access to a mobile connection, just download it at a friend's. If you can't bring along your PC, install your Steam there, download the game, do a backup, and restore that backup at your own PC. Should work.

You seriously need to fix this issue. I've been constantly facing paused download when downloading Xenonauts, but no other games, read, not a single game on Steam does this to me except this game.

Same here. Installed it fine a few days ago, messed around with some mods, uninstalled to start fresh, and now it craps out after a few seconds to a minute.

i fixed it but I don't know how. A. I have a new computer because the other was defective. B. changing the folder outside of C drive may have fixed it for me. It worked before my computer was replaced.

Funny, i never would have thought that the download of some games respectively files could be a problem for Steam. They should indeed try to fix this.

I just had a similar problem: After about 1.5GB the download speed dropped to ~5KB per second. Completely closing Steam (via the "Steam" menu or in the tasktray) and restarting it solved this problem for me.
