What joystick should I buy for Mig-21bis, please HELP ME!
Dear community,

I entered the world of DCS few weeks ago, and yesterday I decided to buy Mig-21bis, but then I realized I should buy joystick or HOTAS.

Now I beg you, please, please help me with this question:

WHAT JOYSTICK SHOULD I GET FOR THE BEST EXPERIENCE IN Mig-21bis ? BUT! I have limited budget and I can only spend up to 45€ or $50 !

For now, I only want to fly Mig-21, I don't need some crazy expenzive x-55....

Good previous joystick thread here:

Plus something from this year:

I haven't used a THRUSTMASTER T.FLIGHT HOTAS X but it looks less than $50 at least.

Thrustmaster T16000m, not a lot of button, but a great precision, with this you can use it perfectly with Ka-50 or other helicopters

I use a Saitek X52 pro with throttle, works like a charm. It's about 200$ but got it from a friend for 100$.

casual = one of the cheap solutions with intergrated slider for throttle
semi-pro = x52
pro = Warthog

Chameleonl he asked one for the mig so he wants a russian like stick;)
Chameleon_Silk Sep 6, 2015 @ 2:37pm
so because its a MiG you must not have a decent stick to control it? I know I kid.

if you have 45-50 bucks you have little to ask for other then a stick with a few buttons, at very least get one that has a slider for throttle.

45-50 bucks for a stick doesn't allow for many bells n whistles :P

LeftCrusade™ Sep 6, 2015 @ 2:43pm
? Didn't say anything about getting a non decent stick. Just said he's looking for a russian like stick;)
Chameleon_Silk Sep 6, 2015 @ 3:03pm
no, because I don't think you understood the question, he hasn't asked for a russian like stick at all.... simply that he is flying the MiG-21 and he asked what stick to get for the best experience for 45-50 bucks, not immersion.

anyways not trying to be a negative nancy here I just don't really get why your implying that what I said was somehow incorrect. furthermore if the look of the device your using is dictating whether you wish to use it for flying instead of the ergonomics, response, smoothness or value then your basically a man-bimbo shopping for a joystick to look cool rather then to find something that will give you great controls. usefullness > style.

if you are playing flight sims and think buying a quality stick and throttle is a waste then your in the wrong hobby, cause it can get pretty expensive... maybe not as bad as some hobbies tho...

disclaimer for those who might try it: I'm not implying that a cheap stick can't provide similar results to an expensive one.

I interpreted his question like this because he specifically asked for the best (cheap) flighstick for the mig (experience, does implicate immersion).

And Saitek is the company for 'bimbo' shoppers. Quality is awful, just good marketing.

I dunno I find the quality of Saitek to be sufficient without going all out on it, mainly because it gives you the ability to have sufficient buttons to have true HOTAS, most cheaper solutions don't do this... or as well.

I like the mouse emulation on the x52, because I use the ministick to look around.... for me the x52 actually has a feature that others don't offer and thus actually fits my personal needs quite well, quality not withstanding.

I would never claim the x52 to have the feel of a warthog, I think the main thing is to have a seperate throttle device and in that price range it can be hard to do.

Sadly the big players on the market all are overpriced and have bad quality. But there are some smaller players who do deliver high quality stuff at relatively lower pricepoint, like ch products and vkb.

I have never seen any Russian-made or Russian look-alike joysticks for PC ever, and i have been flight-simming since the mid-1980's. I have tried and owned all of the above, but every time i come back to CH Products (Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals). That combination can cater for anything from helicopters, to General Aviation, to Fighter jets and yes - even Russian planes. All you want is nice smooth movement and a lot of programmable buttons so you don't have to search for keys or key-combinations on your keyboard all the time. (I have no affiliation with CH Products whatsoever, just appreciate good quality and value-for-money)
