DCS World Steam Edition

X-52 Pro HOTAS
I've heard real bad reviews about it. Is it THAT bad? Or is it just luck if you get a really good one?

its luck. if you find an old one from Saitek (pre Madcats) it may be good, if it was lovingly cared for. any built during the madcats insurection is going to be hit or miss quality wise.

truth in advertising. I had a post madcats X52 pro. it was fine for space sims, but its centering and huge deadzone made it nigh unusable for precision flying.

I still have my X45 going strong. You can find them on Ebay for almost nothing, many are hardly used. Not sure if the quality held up with the X52? I'd get the TM T16000m if you're buying new (HOTAS with the pedals is your best deal).

I have a x52 pro over one year and the only problem is the rotational axis on the throttle, two rotary rings they are not precise and they are oscillating. This is not a problem, I use them only for zoom and can be easily edited with the curves in the settings

had an x52. It had problems with rotaries, the ministick, and centering/deadzone on the joystick like the guy above. It was adequate for space sims, but for dcs it leaves a lot to be desired.

I really like the feel of it and would like to keep using it but the constant issues and head shaking annoyances are almost too numerous to mention. Not recommended. Avoid.

X52 has been great for me. Used my first Saitek X52 for 10 years (Pre madcatz). Only issue I had was with USB ports causing 1 button to not work, depending on USB type the buttons and lighting would be a little buggy. But nothing serious like others say. Only reason I needed to replace is because it is worn out with lots of miles on it.

A few months ago I bought the new Logitech X52 and I can say I am very very happy. I didn't even have to change the software from the Saitek X52 (It does recognize it as a different name too). All of the buttons work, the USB issue seems to have been fixed. They added detents to the rotary axis on the throttle too, no one seems to mention this. The only other difference is the throttle is much tighter/tougher and the tension knob seems to not work as good.

After researching everything from Virpil to the Warthog for the last couple years I found the best value in the X52. Pros and cons plus cost = value. X52 Pro is not worth 50 more. The X52 is only 150 at most compared to the X56 at 250. The X56 is definitely not 100 bucks better, if it is even better. The X52 is hard to beat for use in all flight sim types. It is definitely the most comfortable too. With my bad back in RL I have had to ditch my rudder peddles so I depend on a rudder twist on the stick, the X52 has the best rudder twist.

I saw all the bad reviews too, and they kept me from buying under the madcatz brand. So I really waited it out longer than I should on replacing my Saitek X52. That thing took the beating.

Tip if you buy one = You can program every single axis or button to do anything you want. You can even program the mouse nipple to anything despite Logitech/Saitek/madcatz saying you can only use it as a mouse. Just look up Banding and Advanced Programming in the software. I learned to use every single button and axis on my X52. Then if you pinkie button to Alt+ double each button. Plenty of buttons, plus you can flip between 3 diffferent profiles on the top right of the joystick, so I only use about 1/3 of the buttons with everything I need for DCS mapped to it.

Goodluck!

I bought x52 pro 3 months ago. I like it but.... Something is loose inside the throttle part. but still works. It feels really plastic and fragile. And the toggle switches dont seem to work sometimes. I think I would of gone for a more expensive one after having this one. X52 rating. 70 out of 100.

Sounds like you got a defective one. I would return it and get one that works. My X52 works 100%. Make sure you use USB 2.0 port.
