truth in advertising. I had a post madcats X52 pro. it was fine for space sims, but its centering and huge deadzone made it nigh unusable for precision flying.
A few months ago I bought the new Logitech X52 and I can say I am very very happy. I didn't even have to change the software from the Saitek X52 (It does recognize it as a different name too). All of the buttons work, the USB issue seems to have been fixed. They added detents to the rotary axis on the throttle too, no one seems to mention this. The only other difference is the throttle is much tighter/tougher and the tension knob seems to not work as good.
After researching everything from Virpil to the Warthog for the last couple years I found the best value in the X52. Pros and cons plus cost = value. X52 Pro is not worth 50 more. The X52 is only 150 at most compared to the X56 at 250. The X56 is definitely not 100 bucks better, if it is even better. The X52 is hard to beat for use in all flight sim types. It is definitely the most comfortable too. With my bad back in RL I have had to ditch my rudder peddles so I depend on a rudder twist on the stick, the X52 has the best rudder twist.
I saw all the bad reviews too, and they kept me from buying under the madcatz brand. So I really waited it out longer than I should on replacing my Saitek X52. That thing took the beating.
Tip if you buy one = You can program every single axis or button to do anything you want. You can even program the mouse nipple to anything despite Logitech/Saitek/madcatz saying you can only use it as a mouse. Just look up Banding and Advanced Programming in the software. I learned to use every single button and axis on my X52. Then if you pinkie button to Alt+ double each button. Plenty of buttons, plus you can flip between 3 diffferent profiles on the top right of the joystick, so I only use about 1/3 of the buttons with everything I need for DCS mapped to it.
Goodluck!
