Fallout 3 - Game of the Year Edition

Fallout 3 - Game of the Year Edition

WTF G.E.C.K.?
Somethings wrong with my GECK, From what i understand its downloaded when you download the game unlike Fallout new vegas which you have to manually download. But my fallout 3 geck when started says "The program can't start because libvorbisfile.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." So obviously i tried and it says "Setup has experianced an error. Please do the following
-Close any running programs: None were open...
-Empty your temporary folder: A what?
-Check internet connection: Nothings wrong

Then try to run the setup again.

Error code: -6003

Any help is greatly appreciated

The libvorbisfile.dll error happens when geck is installed to a different directory than Fallout 3. The default install path in the installer is not the correct path for the steam version.
Thanks, so then where should it go? I was gonna try local files on steam and put it there but it didnt work

Specifically i put it here:C:\Program Files (x86)\Empty folder\steamapps\common\Fallout 3 goty

Lol its in an empty folder

E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 3 goty
That is where mine is installed. My steam files are on my E drive, your steam files may be on drive C. If you are not running a 64 bit OS then remove the (x86) from the Program Files part.
I dont have an E drive only c and d
So im going to try and Re-instal it (figured it out, you need to use the setup for the geck in the directory) Now im trying to install the geck in Fallout goty folder, which from what your telling me should be its destination

Yay
It worked! So for future refrence for anyone having trouble with the GECK follow these steps:
1. Go to your local folder (Go to library, right click fallout, properties, then local files, then browse local files)
2. Find geck setup/installer
3.Click next till it says where to put the files, copy where your local fallout folder is, the top
4. Paste where it says the files are going to go
5.Finish downloading
6.To launch go into fallout local files again and find geck and launch it
:D PROFIT!

Anyone who is having this problem just needs to uninstall GECK from the default folder and change the folder destination to the Fallout 3 folder. Once you install GECK in the Fallout 3 folder, it should work properly.

Thank you for reiterating what was explained more than 4 years ago.
