Simply, upon finding a lock to pick, hit F5 to quicksave, if you break the pin, simply F9 to quickload until you pick the lock. Same with hacking, you will never need to lose another pin again, or lose a hack again....You don't even need to break your game using console commands!
If you encounter a terminal-locked door, to gain more XP, hack the computer first, and don't unlock via the terminal, manually pick the lock. Or pick the lock then hack the terminal, either way, do not unlock via the terminal and you can enjoy gaining more XP
Or you could keep one, and just save every time.
Personally LP is one of my primary skills so it start pretty high anyway and Im fairly careful in using them. Im coming to the end of my current game and have over 100 now.... and Ive broken about another 40+ trying. Mostly from finding them in every place Ive been to and looked. Though probably about 1/5 from buying them.
Try forcing some locks if the % is high.
