Doesn't count Steam play time
When I play, it doesn't add time to my "total time played". I know it's not a big deal, but I put hundreds of hours in past characters and I want to know why it never counted it. I never play in offline mode either.

I noticed that too. I just recently decided to start a new game; Steam doesn't seem to count the play time anymore, and the screenshots don't work anymore either.

Damn really? Cause it is my most played game of all time.... And hate that it doesn't count it...

Leave the launcher open while playing
Why does it matter anyways. play for fun. i must have some 20 hours showing on my profile but in fact i played thousands of hours both online and offline.

I just like it, I dunno. I have thousands too.

Mine does but I noted that any compatibility settings/administrator mode tend to kill the Steam overlay, screenshot and hour count capacity. Since I can run the game regardless with little change, I leave the stuff off for screenshot and hour count goodness.

Dose not seem to track launching it via FOSE, ignores geck time too.

I just developed a 'mod' today to fix this

First locate the FalloutLauncher.exe in "Steam>steamapps>common>Fallout 3 goty". Then rename the orginal FalloutLauncher.exe to anything like "FalloutLauncher1.exe".

Then rename "Fallout3.exe" to "FalloutLauncher.exe". After you done it you should see your hours played when you start fallout 3 on steam.

If you use Fallout script extender, just rename "Fose_loader.exe" to "FalloutLauncher.exe" instead. Don't forgot to change the file to run as administrator or you will get the Fail to load dll" error.

If you want to activate some mods or dlc from the launcher you just have to enter the folder and start the old launcher from there. Or install Nexus Mod Manager.

Are you guys using the FOSE launcher to run Fallout 3? I'm pretty sure that does not add game time to steam

I found that if I change the "FalloutLaucher" file in the game directory to a different name (ex. "FalloutLauncherdead") and change the "fallout3" File to "FalloutLauncher" steam will count my hours.

If you set it to admin or compatibility the steam tracker gets messed up and won't track properly. Optimize the game then start it normally http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/21888/?
