How to set weapons to hotkeys?
Possible or do I have to go to pip boy every time?

Hold the number you want, and click the weapon with the mouse

Do remember that after certain major moments in the game it "forgets" your settings and you have to set them again.

really? like what major moments? i wouldn't think they'd reset to default unless you verified the games cache files.
that would be very inconvenient at best, deadly at worst!

Some of them are where you're being stripped of all your stuff in DLCs and the start of Broken Steel. I'm afraid I won't be able to recall definite main story events where this happens, but I'm pretty sure they are there.

This setting isn't saved in the game's config but in each individual saves.

that's strange. not sure i've ever messed around with a game that didn't save them in the configs, but then again, i usually leave those at default settings.
