So in a nut shell, Games For Windows Live needs to be installed (not needed to be used), as the game still looks for dependencies, not my fault, take it up with Bethesda and Steam. So, my programme looks for the install. And if everything is ok, it goes ahead and makes the changes that are needed. Does not interfere with a Steam install at all.
This is the order it runs in.
(1) Makes sure Fallout 3 / Fallout 3 Games of the Year is installed.
(2) Scans for Games For Windows Live install (Again, needed for dependencies.
If not installed, it will ask you to go install it. Remember, You don't have to use it.
(3) Adds registry entries to fix the launch of the programme.
(4) Modifies INI files in fallout 3, so games does not crash on Multi-Core CPU's
I have been playing Fallout 3 GOTY with these fixes on Windows 10 with no crashes or drop outs. Although you still get that annoying notification about Fallout 3 not being compatible with Windows..... But runs just fine.
I have not heard of that error before, d3d9.dll is of course DriectX...... Could be that DirectX is not installed correctly... Yeah I know Windows is to keep it upto date itself. But with older games like these they reference DirectX DLL files that are sometimes missing in modern releases. Try downloading DirectX 9.0c and reinstalling that version. The INI will not become present until the game its self has been run. Catch 22 I know, but Fallout 3/NV do a system graphics hardware check when launched for the first time.
Here is the Microsoft Link for DirectX 9.0c

But thanks for posting, I can now add this to the updated version that I am doing, that will also incroperate New Vegas..
I'm same as this, mainly indoors or in a menu, like a trade or something similar. I have ran your fixer program but no change continues to crash to desktop.
First: Windows 10 home edition, 64 bit. Got the game through Steam.
Second: At first, my game wouldn't load up past the launcher. I would click play, the launcher would close and steam would indicate that I was in a game for a few seconds, (making my portrait green), then drop it out of that and making it blue again. I ran it as administrator and with the compatability function through the Compatability tab. Finally, the game would actually load up, but then when I click "New Game", it would begin loading, but when it's about halfway through transitioning to the first "loading slide", the game crashes. This was happening both before and after I used your program. I've tried running the game on multiple compatability modes, as well as running your program more than once. Every time, the same exact issue arises. I have no idea how to fix it.
Any ideas or comments you have would be much appreciate. Thanks!
