Hey

When Does The Game Crash?
To fix Fallout 3 issues, look through the steps in the guide:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=149946772
Crashes at the Launcher: Steam (Play) > Fallout 3 Launcher (Play) > Crash
  • Look at #1. On Windows 10, Go to: Steam > Fallout 3 - Game of the Year > Play > Fallout 3 Launcher , and click the box that appears (bottom right): This app might not work correctly, then download and install Games for Windows Live (GFWL) - gfwlivesetup.exe.
  • In addition, you could disable GFWL - #2.

Crashes During Gameplay
  • Have a look through the multi-core crash fix (#4) as well as the Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch, for bug-fixes (#6).

Crashes At New Game - Intel HD (Integrated Graphics)
  • Check out #7 (d3d9x.dll).

Steam Refunds

Enjoy :steamhappy:

Here is how I got mine to work:
- Uninstall Fallout 3 and delete everything (except saves if you want) in the Fallout 3 folder located usually in Doc, MyGames.
- Reinstall etc (try to see if this works?)
- Set Fallout 3.exe (not fallout launcher) to windows 7 compatibility mode
- Edit the ini file as stated in the guide mentioned above
- Then I installed the unofficial patch found on the Nexus site
- Ensure your drivers are all up to date and verify files (if on steam)

That is basically what I did to get it to work so it might be a solution for some, it might not for others. Hope it does help you though!

Btw I have the GOTY version on steam.

That used to happen to me for no reason, turns out I needed to download xbox store.

I have the same problem, I installed it with the YouTube video Bia posted, that's the same video I used but now when I play it I can play for like 10 to 35 minutes then it freezes. How do I fix that?

Hi, I had problems with my windows 10 as well and when I changed the game settings so that the game would open up in a window instead of full screen, that solved all the issues.

Mine doesn't work at all! Tried the Nexus mod fix adjusted graphics & video resolution still nothing cant get passed the initial menu. Just crashes for no given reason. How in the hell is this STILL a problem? Got it for 8 bucks on sale so I figured what the hey? I'll give this a go. They really need to check all games on Steam for problems like this every now and then & weed out the ones they are making people pay for that come with problems. To have to pay any price for a digital download game & have it not work for the current OS is unacceptable. Steam devs need to take action & ether force the devs of a problematic game to come up with a fix or remove the game if they cant get it to work.

Try this, I did this before I even launched the game and so far played like 3 hours. Started adding mods after 2 hours and it's worked fine with no crashes.

1. Right click on your Fallout3.exe
2. Go to Properties down at the bottom
3. Compatibility tab
4. Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 7"
5. Save and you're done

Old game that Steam version was never optimized for Windows 10
FYI GoG did but not steam
