Make sure you have gone into the game settings and have turned on HDR, turned off completely Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering, and have gone into Advanced, Water and turned off Water Displacement. If you hadn't done that it might even have been the cause of the ctd when you tried to use the wrapper.
When you are using the injector do you see any text in the top left of the game when you first launch it telling you about the ENB version you are using? If you do the ENB is running but not working correctly, if you see no text at all then the ENB isn't working.
I've never personally had much luck with using injector versions of ENB's. I use Midhrastic ENB on FO3 and it works okay with the wrapper, so did Skyrim. It could be that you hadn't set the game settings as I said above, it could also be worth trying an older d3d9.dll from Boris' website and try the wrapper method again. It's not necessarily true that the newest version is the best or the one that will work for you, and to be quite honest you probably won't even see a difference between them.
Okay, so that's a clue. The ENB isn't loading at all. Like I said, I never got the injector method to work. So long as you ONLY copy the d3d9.dll file from the .zip you downloaded from Boris' website, then copy all of the Realism ENB over, and change those in-game settings, you should be good. If not try an older d3d9.dll.
Do you have any mods installed? If yes, it's possible they are conflicting with the ENB. Uninstall them for now if you are still have issue with the ENB working. Any kind of modding should be done one step at a time....
Good luck.
