I've been playing the game without sound and with music only.
Right click your speaker, select sounds to bring up the sound panel.
Under Playback, double click your speakers, select the advanced tab and set it there. Apply and that should fix it for you.
I just noticed, this was from 2015, old thread.
If i did this and i had it set to that and it didn't fix the issue, what should i do?
It was an older fix for sound related issues, but no one seems to mention it much nowadays.

I still use it and have never had any sound issues with the game.

Also remember to do a full system restart for the changes to take full effect.
Look up Driver Booster on steam store.
Download the free version and install it to your account.
Should come up under tools in your game library.
Run it and update your drivers, hopefully there will be a sound driver update.
After it updates your drivers restart the system and try the game again to see if the issue is fixed.
That should then correct the issue. It should list what the hardware type was so you can get the name for the driver software to lookup.
