I sent Dogmeat to find something for me and he never came back.
It's been three days. I'm really worried. :'(

He was fed up with the constant abuse from you. He felt like he was putting more into the relationship than you were and thought it was better this way.

Look for him outside Vault 101. He goes there if he gets lost. Give him a long time, maybe a few days, to get there.

Then go to nexusmods.com and get a mod to make him immortal and one to summon him, like "Dogmeat Call" or "Dogmeat Whistle". If he never shows up, he's probably dead. If he is, you'll have to reload the last save when you still had him.

I understand that if you have the Broken Steel DLC and dogmeat dies, you can get a puppy sired by him, back at Vault 101.

I found him hours later at the Jefferson Memorial. The super mutants killed him. D:

R.I.P. Dogmeat.

But if you get the Puppies! perk, you can repeatedly send him to his death, much like the adoring fan from Oblivion.

Personally, I typically try to get him to fetch a launched mini-nuke. I remember when playing this the first time, he got in the way more often than not, and turned into his namesake merely by getting in the way of my "let my inventory management sort them out" style of dealing with enemies. The flamer worked well for that; not for him as a companion. It often was a challenge to find a way to not get him incinerated.

They later increased his utility, but I had moved on. He was useful for finding ammo but in later stages of the game, I had more ammo than I could use.

The puppies perk now actually gives him (or really, the "offspring"even more staying power--1000 hp compared to the 500 hp. I imagine the aliens just abucted the first one and keep dropping newly hatched clones for our use as needed, right by vault 101.

I wonder if there is a mod to keep generating new puppies until there is a vault full of them? maybe vault K-9?

Open the console ingame, type:
player.moveto 0006a775

Then you will find him.

R.I.P. Dogemeat, his fur was as thick as power armor, and his bite had the damage of a .44.

stupid question about Dogmeat. I found him and he became my companion for about a minute, then 2 radscorpions came out of no where and killed him. I do not have the puppy perk ,but do have Broken Steel installed (still in the main quest ark). Is Dogmeat dead for good?

thanks,
