Destroy or not destroy megaton?
I'm not sure by reading, there is two homes you can choose from, but you need to destroy megaton for one of them, but whom of this homes are the best home to live in? Do both have the same effects? Have seen that both have the aviablitity to change themes and those upgrades? just want to know before i blow up the city...

I prefer the Megaton house. There isn't really much point in blowing the town up to be honest. I did it in one play through just so I could say i did it but Megaton has so many traders that it makes little sense, even for an evil character, to blow it up.

Ya what this guy said.

Not to mention, if your like me that is, you'll want higher damage with guns. Best way to do that is to max out you critical % and get better criticals perk.

But if you blow up megaton you miss out on the survival guru perk obtained from doing "the wasteland survival guide."

It doesn't say on the perk in your PIP Boy but if you look at the wiki they tested and found out that you actually get a 2% increase in critical % if you get the guru perk and not the other two types of perk you can get from that quest.

High Critical % and Luck + A mint condition shotgun + bloody mess = a bloody mess
Even with the Metal Blaster you get insane amounts of criticals.
The secret is the Damage that the weapon says it does is split up between all 9 pellets or laser shots, and they all get critical multiplyers based on your charecter. That means one may hit and do regular damage (50 Dam/9=5.5 damage a pellet/beam) But the rest can still get critical damage. Critical Damage is based on dice rolls, but for the sake of things say a 49 is rolled. That means the crit damage is double the base damage. With better criticals that means its 2.5x5.5x8=110 Which means a shotgun with one pellet of regular damage, and the others rolling criticals will do roughly 115 damage. But this is all rought data and not actual facts. I just compiled this to show the power of criticals with spread weapons

This[fallout.wikia.com] explains it better. But roughly a Metal Blaster at full condition, with better criticals, and bloody mess (don't know if the wiki used it in its report on the weapon or not), will deal 839 Damage if a sneak attack critical hits every beam on a target.

You can still finish the Wasteland survival guide after you blow up Megaton Moira Brown will wait at the ruins of Megaton as a ghoul.

Only if you meet her before you blow up megaton, reference[fallout.wikia.com]

Decided to let megaton live... Closing the thread now. Thanks for your info

Get the strength bobblehead
Talk to lucy and do blood ties
and talk to Moira, Although she still ends up in underworld no matter what.

Do that stuff before you blow up megaton and your good.
But you still loose:
Miky outside for good karma. (helpful for neutral characters)
Donating to the church of atom for good karma
The brass lantern for trading food
The saloon for trading (can't think of the name)
The doctors for trading and info on The replicated man
Fixing the pipes and trading scrap metal for 10 caps

Plus teleporting to megaton and going in your house is faster.

Tenpenny tower you have to,
talk on the intercom
go inside
go up the elavator
go into your room

I mean 3 loading screens to get home really?

Dont destroy megaton. Destroying it is an ultimate karma loss. If you save megaton then you gain a ton of karma and the people will say "hey your nice take this" *hand over caps or drink*. So save megaton

A mushroom cloud over Megaton is sooooo pretty! Such purifying light!

I destroyed it. It gives you 500 or 1000 caps and a room in the tower. If you kill everyone in the tower and take their stuff, it wont drop your karma too much since its already near its lowest and you get quite afew caps and stimpacks not to metion ammo and weapons from the guards.

You also get karma for killing burk.

A new player shouldn't destroy it because its an early house, and you won't have the experience or no-how to get the tenpenny tower house. So first time players shouldn't destroy it because its convient, good and useful. Only vet players should go the "bad player" route and destroy it.

I only use tenpenny tower with the fast travel mod that lets me go there as easy as going to megaton, otherwise its a pain heading to tenpenny tower suite all the time without being able to just fast-travel to the balcony. Other than that, both houses are great, so just depends on how you play your game.

Tenpenny towers is the better property, so just blow up that other place and be evil.
