No FALLOUT.ini file

I've started the game, succesfully hit PLAY. And when i cllick 'New Game' it crashes, there is no Fallout.ini in the fallout 3 folder, just FalloutPrefs. Wondering what im doing or not doing

I however have win 10. alot of the things im seeing are for 8 or lower

Try running the game Via the steam launcher again. But Delete the current FalloutPrefs.ini file. The launcher will remake the files, and hopefully, your missing file will be made as well.

Try Verifing your files. There obviously something wrong with your installation.

So ill uninstall it, reinstall it, and then try again?

maybe not the problem but: always do this first any time you have an issue with a game. go to your library. right click game name in list, click properties, click local files, click verify integrity of game cache. it will check if your missing a file, or something didnt download/update. this is what brandon also said above. also check the green sticky note on this forum page. many solutions are there.

fallout Prefs IS the Fallout ini file. Just a fyi.

Wrong. Very Wrong.

When you normally run the launcher, It makes a FalloutPrefs.ini and a Fallout.ini file. Dont give out false information.

FalloutPrefs is NOT the ini
Fallout_Default is, and it is now located in the "fallout3" titled folder in your fallout 3 directory....

The inis he is looking for are the ones made in the My Documents folder when teh launcher is started.

Fix is Copying - "Fallout_Default" file from your direct install folder to MyGames/Fallout3 folder and Saving as FALLOUT.ini file.

For real, but i appreciate it. Found out a while ago most people didn't bother to update the fixes for windows 10. I just bought a cheap copy for my old Xbox 360 and use that

Yes, but see the good side. Necroing means people use the search box to find answers instead of asking the same question for the 100000000000000000000000000th time

In a 10 years old game there will not be many "new" miracle solutions.
