If it is the case, all you have to do is figure out what mods it may be that are clashing, and perhaps alter the load order in your mod list so that the iron sights load after the other one that may be modifying weapons... Or remove the other mod.
That is probably the easy guess.. I hope you can figure it out :/
It would truly help to know his load order/what other mods are in use as well. I can easily see something like one of the unofficial patches interfering.
Anyone have any good links to the exact downloads that were used and proven to be legit?
I just wanna follow the exact same steps someone else had. Im using windows 7 if that helps.
Im using Nexus mod manager and I got everything from NExus. The FOSE thing wasnt on NExus though so I had to get it from some website that the nexus page linked me to.
To install it properly, just extract the provided file (it probably requires 7-zip, which is an all around useful program anyway, as well as being a free program.), and then copy the data folder into your main fallout 3 directory (same one as where you copied FOSE to). Overwrite where asked, make sure the .esm and .esps associated with RHironsights are active, launch through the FOSE_loader and you should be good to go.
RH ironsight is easy to install especially with the help of Nexus mod manager
Oh there's your problems, launch the game with the FOSE launcher, not the icon in steam, in fact, add a non steam game and point it to that fose launcher if you want the steam overlay
if it still did not work, name the mods you are using, Mod conflict is a major problem
I really hate it when people post in threads both without bothering to read them, and spreading lies like nexus mod manager being easy to use with fallout 3.
NMM is still incredibly unreliable when it comes to bethesda games other than skyrim, with some users having it work fine, and others having it completely bork the install, or just otherwise not work.
If you look a little earlier in thread, you'll see he already said he ONLY installed FOSE and RH_ironsights (which was apparently through nexus mod manager, which may be his entire problem, since he mentioned having no problems modding other games, including new vegas), as well as that I already mentioned making sure it's launching through FOSE and not steam.
If you are going to mod a game, you MUST read the notes included in the mod's description- for ANY mod. The mod will indeed state how you will need to run the game, you'll be alright. I used that mod too by the way. I find games today need un-consolitis-retarding, so it's mods like this that I use.
If you are going to decide to install a modification program to your game it is wise to google for reviews and/or if possible, tutorials, on youtube, mostly, to get as much info as you can on that mod and how to use it, but more importantly, to see if anyone else can offer advice. Please please please continue with confidence, but with a little more common sense in future.
There can be people in the Steam community who may have advice also, but you will tend to annoy us if you didn't read anything beforehand.
Peace.
That aside, you don't actaully need to read the readme for every mod for a bethesda game, as the majority say essentially the same things. Common sense and deductive skills are more than enough to point out that a mod may be causing conflict, and even what mod it's conflicting with.
Also, RH_ironsights being anti-consolitis? where on earth do you get that idea? Ironsights aren't in the game by default because bethesda decided not to put them in, not because the consoles couldnt handle it. Many of the great games of old didn't have ironsights. Doom, Quake, UT, Turok, Rainbow six 1 2 and 3, at least on pc didn't, even CS/CSGO doesn't have irons. The first few call of duty games had them, but they weren't actually necessary to complete the game, you could simply go around firing from the hip.
Unfortunately, you forgot to read the discussion, Darth. I started it.
Try to read my post again regarding the mod. You have misunderstood what I said.
Oh, and;
To those new to modding/about to install another mod: Before installing a mod, ALWAYS read the description.
Don't worry, no one is questioning your competence.. I have a funny feeling that you will figure it out. I, myself would come up against a dead end and once I re-traced my steps, I always found that I had missed something, or discovered an issue with the mods in the load order.
It happens mostly when installing manually. Typically, the mod will be at the end of the load order, and this, too must be managed with the list.
*Whatever appears after in the list overwrites any identical files in the previous mod, as you may know <wink>
The iron sights mod requires all the DLC. I wonder if this is causing a problem for you?
Gopher has been a very helpful member of the gaming community, for many games now. It is always a good idea to check out anything he posts about the mods he covers. Check out the iron sights review he made here. There is an installation tutorial within :)
Oh, I believe this is a part2 to the previous tutorial: sorry, it was same one lol.
I agree, it is very complicated, because a lot of mods include modifications to weapons and they themselves need to have certain files overwritten/deleted for your overall result to work. It's a simple case of load order, (the order in how your mods execute the over-writing of files),
and just follow Gopher's directions carefully. Maybe you have done already and I too have made mistakes or forgotten to do something in the past. Just re trace your modding steps and best of luck!
