Fallout 3 GOTY Crash New Game

What the title says. Whenever I start a New Game it crashes to the desktop. I can start the game normally just decides to not work when I click on New Game. Any suggestions?

You might have to go into the INI files and set the CPU core. It has been 10 years since i installed this game, i'm about to find out my self.

Yo can I just fix the new game crash without messing around with mods?

Go to Windows settings, Graphics settings, Graphics performance preference, add Fallout3.exe and FalloutLauncher.exe which are in your Fallout 3 folder, then click Options and select your dedicated GPU. I did this and have not had any trouble whatsoever with the game yet and also haven't had to edit the INI (configuration) files.

My husband just fixed this exact problem for yesterday! Its very frustrating and takes time, but its fixable. The main reason this keeps is due to windows 10 and graphics confusion. The best guide to fix it yourself that we both found is on MiniTool Partition Wizard. You will find it if you google your issue. The main points that id follow are
1- running your game launcher as an administrator
2- changing the compatibility to windows xp
3- edit the fallout prefs file(this is scary but the guide gives great simple instructions, just remember to make a separate save file to replace in case of mistakes before changes are made!)
4- check the comments section under the article if you've tried everything but are still having issues (the comment section doesn't pop up when your using your phone i noticed. i recommend having a tab on your computer open)

I spent an hour trying before i reinstalled and let my husband try. He followed a tip in the comments and than restarted the computer. Now the game works like it used to!
