I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up! Mirelurks and Molerats wanted!

At the beginning of the game I went exploring and found a whole nest of those Mirelurks in some kind of island in a river. As I wanted to cross to the other side, I decided I best wipe out the whole nest to prevent them from attacking me. I didn't know that Moira woman would send me on a mission later in the game to put something in that nest.
Same story for the Molerats a bit further in a sewer. Wiped them out as well in the beginning.

Anyone know of any locations where I can find more nests of those things?

You can place the observer unit in the mirelurk nest even if you killed all the mirelurks before getting the quest from Moira. You are penalized if you kill mirelurks during the quest. I actually do kill all the mirelurks before getting the quest as it makes the quest much easier.

There should be 3 to 5 molerats outside of Megaton. Just turn left after exiting the town and walk around the outside walls. Or go to Jury Street Station.

I completed FO3 5 years ago, one of my favorites! Got the GOTY ver & recently started again.
Looking for a way to get to a location and Not recalling that the molerats were part of Moira's quests, I killed all the molerats in the sewers! I'll try wandering around Meagaton but I think I killed a few there too. Questions:

Don't these critters respawn after a time. Does a molerat have a game ID code? If so, could a player spawn a few with the console command? I'd like to see if the Molerat Stick actually works or not. Little help?

Dadelus, as you suggested, I got 4 molerats around Megaton with the "stick". This completes the number 3 needed for the basic quest. Thanks. My Pipboy map now shows a dotted line to a different Metro station so I might be able to complete the optional task.

It's not a problem finding enough Molerats to compete that part of the quest, there are more than enough of them in the game to fulfill it.
