Can't Sprint?

In the settings there's a designated key to allow you to run (Left Shift) but it just makes you slower when you press it. What?

there is no sprint in fallout 3, just walk and run. Left shift i think toggles between run/walk, and by default you always run, so by pressing left shift you switch back to walk.

There is a FO3 mod i believe that adds a sprint ability (like Skyrim), but its not in the vanilla Fallout game, just run and walk.
