I guess we'll have to figure out where and how to copy savegames within Steam OS. As Fallout 3 just had the wonky windows live service removed it would have been realky nice had they transitioned savegames onto steam cloud.
Hooe they won't just sell us a remake to add this feature 😆

short how to, in case someone needs to transfer FO3 Savesgames to Steam Deck:

Download Warpinator in Steam Deck Desktop mode
Download Winpinator for your Windows machine ( https://winpinator.swisz.cz/ )
Sync up between Steam Deck and Windows PC (must be same Network / WiFi)

Transfer your Fallout 3 save game(s) you want to take with you.

on Steam Deck
unhide all folders - scroll to File Explorer, open top right menu and select "show hidden files"
go to: .local / share / steam / steamapps / compatdata /
here you see all Steam Application App IDs - Fallout 3 has 22370

select 22370 the go to: .pfx / drive_C / users / steamuser / Documents / mygames / Fallout3 / Saves

paste your save file

Exit Desktop mode - start the game, load your file - continue playing

Hey guys. I too was disappointed to see there was no cloud save, and looking for the most painless way to make sending saves back and forth quick. A friend pointed me to a guide, but the short version is "Get Dropbox going on both Windows and Deck, trick both into treating a Dropbox folder as the save folder, and tada". I've just used it a little and it seems to do the trick, but I haven't used it enough to confirm that it continues to share correctly even when launching into gaming mode on Deck.

Install "syncthing" https://syncthing.net/ and backup the save folder someplace safe.
This also work across devices.

On the steamdeck, you sync this folder:
/home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/22370/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Fallout3

I'm guessing on Windows, it would be something like:
c:\users\steamuser\Documents\My Games\Fallout3

Bethesda is one of the worst game companies in the industry. They don´t even update their engine for recent titles to fix simple things like super ultrawide and ultrawide monitors support... things that modders do for free . Imagine they update a game from 2000s with steam cloud sdk.... I don´t believe in miracles,

I was playing Fallout New Vegas and it has cloud save, then went play FO3 on ROG Ally and it didn’t have support for cloud saves 😅

Yeah sucks, its becoming a pain now to go between deck and pc without this feature. At this stage I'd pay to have it.

I wish could have my save games on the cloud, because one e in a while I return to play some fallout 3 or new Vegas, but I always have to play the prologue all over again
