High FPS

Does anyone have a current (2022) fix for the high FPS issue?

I have a Radeon 5700xt, which the game does recognize.

In the Radeon app I set it so FO3 does not exceed 60 FPS and to always have Vertical Sync On.

Still my character moves really fast. And the FPS varies from 65 and up.

I have been all over the internet and the forums for a solution.

I tried to edit the ini file and change IFPSClamp from 0 to 60. But FPS is still too high.

I also read about using the Stutter Fix mod on Nexus. But now some are getting CTDs with the mod.

It's suggested to use IStewie's Tweaks mod.

I haven't even tried that though.


I'm getting a bit frustrated.

I planned to install Tale of Two Wastelands later on, it seems complicated, for now I just wanted to see if a vanilla FO3 would run.






Also which FOSE version are we on? The Beta 1.3?

Installed RivaTuner to cap the FPS at 60. Seems to work for now.

you gotta set FPSclamp to 0 in the ini usually to fix this.

Yes it's 0 by default and some suggested to set it to 60.

Either way it didn't help.

It's at 0 now, and while my character seems to still move fast , the FPS is at 55 when having RivaTuner on.

Why would anyone play want to play at less than 144 fps? All games should be played above 144 fps.

That'd be neat. But for older games engines and their calculations are tight to the framerate and frametimes. Unless a genius modder is involved to fix that, you're stuck playing at 60 at best.

lol, you have a problem with your FPS being too high, yet here I am, trying to find a way to make the game run with more then 20 fps on a very good PC lmao

Change your display refresh rate to 60. 144 hz is why too fast for Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
