Downgrading ur game to 1.7.0.3 (Fix FOSE and Crashes)

Hello, bethesda was so kind to patch fallout 3 but also so kind to break it over there knee as is tradition (it just works )

To fix the issues with this the easiest way is by:

1) downgrading the game to the pre patch version.

2) install fose (fallout script extender)

3) install the unoffical fallout 3 patch which for exsample fixes three dog unlocking his inner vision (aka spoilering the end game.)

4) Windows 11 Only CTD Fix Below.


Step 1:

Download this

1.1: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R2dzrfvTeupNQIdWUWBuQdL53ub_eOUO/view (Fallout 3 1.7.0.3 exe and launcher)

Replace it with the updated one and make a save copy if u want.

1.2: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1y2VZAItRuY3CxX47fMG5GhLq8J7tDsDJ (xlive dll since live is alive and well in 1.7.0.3)

Step 2:

2.1: https://www.fose.silverlock.org/ download fose and extract everything into ur root folder (thats where ur fallout.exe is.

2.2: make a shortcut by rightclicking the fose.exe and put it on ur desktop.
u use this to start ur game now.
ps:start the launcher first to chose ur settings.

Step 3:

3.1 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/19122/?tab=files download the patch and apply it using vortex (nexus mod manager) or fomm (fallout 3 and new vegas modmanager) which one u chose is personal prefrence.


General Fixes:

Delete all .inis in Fallouts savegame folder: Documents\MyGames\Fallout 3

In windows 11 go into settings, display , grafics and then browse and choose fallout3.exe and fallout3launcher.exe so they appear in the list.
Click both and set them to high performance.
