CANT INSTALL GAMES FOR WINDOWS LIVE

I cant play this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game because no matter what I do I cannot install GFWL. It gives me a network error. EVERY TIME. I'm losing my mind.

I'm having this exact same issue. I just bought it and game won't launch when clicking Play. The "ultimate guide for set-up" doesn't help because games for windows live will not download either (same network error you mentioned). This must mean games for windows live has been abandoned. So, now we have no way of playing this game. steam should pull this from the platform or work with bethesda to fix this.

AFAIK GFWL has been defunct for a long time, but all you need it for is simply to recognise a dll file, you don't even need to use it.

I'm only saying it might be the issue. You can download the latest .net framework from microsoft. That may fix the problem of installing GFWL.

i bought the game yesterday and never had the chance to play it as when i click on "new game" its crashes and closes out. Kinda of stuck. i, new on here as well so i figured i could maybe get some help possibly fixing the issue.

Bethseda arn't very good at updating their games even the classics like this one. That coupled with the lack of backwards compatability of older games on new Windows OS means if you want to play games like this it takes effort and a lot of messing around with files and settings.

Well one thing everyone should be using is Fose (Fallout Script Extender) which disables the gfwl. I had no idea people were still having this problem so many years later.

The irony is you have to have GFWL there to be ignored. The problem is that the game needs a dll from GFWL to run, even if it is then disabled.
