Fallout 3 - Game of the Year Edition

GFWL gone, can't get game to run!
So I bought the game, booted it up, and it crashed after the launcher. All the solutions I see require GFWL, which is no longer a thing apparently. It says I am missing a .dll file and seeing if their is a way to get around it. Any troubleshooting help will be much appreciated!!

Same, I asked someone on microsoft customer support to just send me the file with some sort of injector but the guy told me to suck it and made me install some type of microsoft software that doesn't even open.

Recently Microsoft discontinued Games For Windows Live making Fallout 3 unplayable unless you have the .dll file or already had G4WL installed. You won't be able to play unless someone can somehow give you the download for G4WL or the .dll file which may not work. I suggest requesting a refund if you've had the game for less than 2 weeks and buying Fallout 3 on GOG. I have tried the disabler and it won't work unless you started the game before and have the Fallout.ini.

Hecker man's message won't fix this issue at all. But the message immediately above this one will, by movingshadow

You can get Fallout 3 to work if you use the most recent version of GFWL download. I don't know why Steam does not handle this.

new link for windows live. No need to even make an account to make the game work. Game still crashes a lot, though. Trying to fix that.

https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/1012-microsoft-games-for-windows-live/ this is from another guide on here (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2220787322) for FO3, try this and do what the guide says. When you get to the part where it talks about adding code to the 'Fallout.ini' file it should work, or if you're like me and it didn't, what I did was just delete that file and it worked for me after that
