Does Wonderglue work the same as alien epoxy?

I've realised you can fix stuff with the alien epoxy in the "Mothership Zeta" add on. I was just wondering if the same was the case with Wonderglue as well? If so, I played through the whole of the original game not realising that! That would have been much more convenient rather than keeping on having to replace my combat shotgun.
