Fallout 3 - Game of the Year Edition

Screenshot function not working
Lately I have been having trouble getting the screenshot function for my GOTY Fallout 3 to work. I have been able to do it before, but it has just stopped working now for some reason. I even checked to see if the function was activated in the Fallout 3 folder and it has and I have also reset the button for the screenshot to work with F5 on steam. It works with my other games, but not on here. Do any of you know how I may be able to fix this problem?

Make sure the steam overlay is running while your in game.

You can also just use the ingame screencapper with the printscrn button, assuming the iScreenShotIndex number is the same in both fallout.ini and falloutprefs.ini. Otherwise the game won't know what to call the screenshots and not take them (ScreenShot#.bmp)

Okay, so I did check to see if the steam overlay is running with the game and I can't seem to get it to work. It onlu goes to my Pip-Boy screen when I try to access steam in gama. Do you have any idea how to get it to work?

Turn off compatability mode to enable the steamoverlay and screenshots.
You can also patch it here http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/21888/?

This will give an example to work from, you want to do it to the start file for your game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yI8CSG77gVg
The fallot3.exe in the game folder

Thanks for the video. I did check it though and my game was not in compatability mode in the first place so that's not the issue.

Try verifying the game cache then in case it's an issue with the game itself. BTW are you using a fose loader or anything other than the regular loader?

I'll try doing that. And no, I just use the steam launcher. I only play the vanilla version of the GOTY Fallout 3 so I have never needed the fose loader.

Update: I was able to figure out how to fix the problem. It was the launcher that was giving me trouble as it wasn't even registering on steam. All I had to do was run the launcher as the administrator and it was working again in no time.

That's good you got it to work, I'll have to remember that one, compatability off, but admin mode on.
