Welp, I installed FOSE about almost a year ago. I extracted the files to FO3 GOTY folder, separated the orginal fallout launcher to another folder, shortcut it, and then had it all working out fine.
Last night, when I started up Fallout 3 it was missing xlive.dll.
I installed xliveredist.msi, started up again.
Got infinite loop launching the game.
Then I vertified the files and got 5 corrupted files.
It was cleared up, moved the save files where it is supposed to be, and finally got it working.
So now I have FOSE loader, it works but it doesn't have the performance (I.E. high frames, quailty, etc) that the other Fallout 3 would launch with that performance.
I have two fallout launchers orginial, one that may have the FOSE Loader, and the FOSE Loader that I have extracted again to make sure I have none of the files missing after vertification.
FOSE would not affect your game's performance. It will only load up some additional script instructions and not affect any of your game settings. That is done through the FalloutLauncher.exe file, with the information being stored in your Documents/My Games/Fallout3/ FalloutPrefs.ini file.
Ok, I'll check it out
No it won't. If you want to have FOSE active in the game you need to use the fose_loader.exe file. Once the extra script functions have been loaded into RAM, FOSE will use the Fallout3.exe file to launch the game. FalloutLauncher.exe is only used in your very first game in order to set your display options and create your ini file.
That's probably your problem. That's the beta patch and Weapon Mods Kits is most likely looking for the final stable version, v1.2 b2. There's no point in getting the beta patch as nothing has been done with FOSE for a very long time now. The beta will never be completed.
I'll try out that version.
And what settings should I change?
