Stockholm glitch?

One day i was exiting Megaton and sudenly some ants attacked luckly there was Doc Hoff to fight back and i killed them. Returning back to Megaton after doing some exploration i found Stockholm the sniper that is always on top of Megaton i found him dead. I didn't killed him so i remembered the moment when the ants attacked looks like he jumped somehow down there possiably a glitch then he killed himself. I didn't even noticed him dying just found his body. As fact he is an NPC so will he and all the other NPC killed ever respawn after some days or by the end of the main story when downoladable content loads? How the respawn system works?

Typically only unnamed characters respawn, such as generic raiders. Stockholm should remain dead, but if you want you can open the console with ~, click on him and type resurrect and press enter
