Fallout 3 - Game of the Year Edition

Game crashes to desktop in certain areas
When ever I go into certain areas, my game crashes to the desktop.

EX: I crash by the walls of big town, at Arefu's entrance, and on a bridge with raiders on it. I have tried everything I can think of.

I've tried running fallout 3 without mods, with the bug fix patch, running it in the lowest settings, enabling and disabling windows live, starting a new game, uninstalling and reinstalling, and editing the ini file and nothing has worked.

Idk what to do. Also i can't walk away from the area because if I turn around, I crash.

I was able to play fallout 3 without issue in 2018 on windows 10 with just the fan patch installed and now it doesn't work.

maybe reload a save and move away from those areas?

if you really want to go to those places, then try and avoid those spots, because mainly, it is one area that crashes your game. if it is an enclosed space, then hug the wall and crouch to move away from the area

since I see that you have quite a lot of hours on the game(due to checking ur prof), then I suggest copying the save files somewhere and uninstalling then reinstalling the game

that is the only thing i can think of if what i suggested doesn't work

of course, if you dont wanna do that then you could look up a guide online or find more forum post of people with the same problem

originally I had the problem where I would load into the game and when I try to start a new game, it would crash

but I got a new graphics card and tried it again, so maybe thats whats up

bit of clarification, does your game crash in certain areas, or just when you load it up

Download Tale of two wastelands it fixes all the issues and lets you play fallout nv together but you need all the dlc.

Same here. Game crashes at interior locations. Randomly. Unplayable.

I would do that, but so many of my mods don't work with it. Might just have to do it as a last resort

After reinstallation do you use the saves of the previous installation ? It is symptomatic of a corrupted save file.
The more you play with a corrupted file the more doors are afflicted until nothing works anymore, until you can no longer save or load without a crash. You can try to use wrye bash or Savecleaner and see if it fixes the bug. Often it works.
Wrye bash didn't work for some reason, but Savecleaner seems to have fixed it. No longer crashing to desktop at random locations anymore. So thanks for the fix

Your list of mods is weird.
Why do you have alternate start 2 times in the list ? And the .esm must always be placed at the top of the load order, not after any .esp Check the mod page to verify the load order, do not rely blindly on mod managers.
There are some mods I don't know but doubt it comes from them, this bug seems too familiar.
I accidentally put alternate start 2 times in the list, oops. I looked in the mod order and the .esm files are on top
