Do I need the unofficial Fallout 3 patch with this version?
Per the title. Do I still need to get the unofficial patch? Or have most issues been dealt with already?

Thanks!

I would but it does have it's own issues that were never addressed. So make sure you get some supplementary mods. Most can be found under bug fixes on the nexus just make sure you load unofficial patch before the minor fixes.

You can try the unoffical patch, but it might not work with some mods. It seems to crash. Bethesda has never cared or bothered to fix fallout 3 ever. But for running the game you need to fix the stuff yourself.

Do you know from experience of any mods that won't work? Could you tell me which ones?

There's loads the mods i can't tell you which ones, but i can give you a list the mods i use. Once your Fallout 3 works and opens then try each mod, the engine is buggy and from my experiences i can not get the unoffical patch to work with the mods.

I use:
NMC Texture packs - Works
Fallout 3 Redesigned Project beauty - Works not with as much with other body mods
Marts Mutant Mod - work need patch
Fallout Interoperability Program - Patches other mods
DC interiors Project - works may conflict with DC mods or NMC
Hi Res Weapons V3 - Works
Enhanced Weather Rain and Snow V2 - It works but may lag game and crash with Scavanger
Flora Overhaul - May conflict with other texture mod.
GNR Enhanced - More radio music but works
Project RealityMK - Makes the game more darker and reduces the green tint
Fake Fullscreen Mod Windowed - This actually works funny enough defo recommend.
Pipboy readius - works well with the PC controls not xbox controls.
Realistic Interior Lighting - It works but may conflict with other light mods
Arefu Expanded - works it makes Arefu more townish
Megaton House - works but may not work with other megaton house mods
Scavanger Armor - It works but a little bit laggy around river city metro area
Revisiting vault 101 - Tried a bit of it but works after your kidnapped
Fallout 3- HD Audio Overhaul - It works i recommend.
Alternative Idle Animations- works no problems for me
Terminator Cybernetic Dawn - is fun but incomplete it adds overpowered terminators and changes your characters skin that works with roberts breeze males.

ENBs: Sometimes they work but i won't recommend as they crash the game alot.

I have been trying out some New Vegas texture mods,
Fallout NV Wasteland High rez clothing works in fallout 3.

Majority of the modding community in fallout 3 are incomplete projects or abandoned

Just put all the plugin(s) from the Unofficial Patch on top of the load older so that every following mod overwrites it. Create bashed patch as well. Everything should work fine.

What is a "bashed patch"?

I'm sure google will answer that question better than me. In short, It's a plugin generated by Wrye Bash to merge conflicting records between mods. Might be hard to deal with, you should be fine without it if there's not tons of tons of mods installed. Just sort out your load order.

I don't think so. I never installed any mods or unofficial patches and game runs just fine.
