Fallout 3 - Game of the Year Edition

Fallout 3 Intro
During the birth of the character, the father would talk about our gender, name and appearance in the cut scene. But the animation seems to be going at a different speed then the dialogue. It feels as if the animation is sped up, causing the father to freeze when the animation is complete to wait for the dialogue to finish. Obviously this is a minor gripe but does anyone know of a way to fix this?

I see it in Oxhorn's playlist for the main story line to Fallout 3

I distinctly remember that both the animation was slower when I played it on console.

The controller has nothing to do with anything, nor do the amount of save games. I'm using ENBSeries just fine with Win10 btw. Technically games are being made using PCs, but there's that thing called architecture, which kinda matters. Just for future references.

I think It's either the frame rate or you simply overlook it. Turn off in-game Vsync and force it through your video driver. If you have a 120+ Hz monitor, force double Vsync or cap the frame rate, it should never go above 60. I'd suggest to install the very basic pack of fixes our genius mentioned above, plus FOSR and Increased Heap Allocation. Grab BethINI tool to get your .inis sorted out correctly.

How can I check??

open Fallout.ini in mydocuments/mygames/fallout3/
find iPresentinterval=1. Change this so that it =0. This will remove the inbuilt Vsync on the game.

Do not do this, as everything is tied to the frame rate. Scripts will trigger faster, physics will go ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, everything breaks down. Ignore the trolls claiming anything over 60 fps on Gamebryo/ Creation works.

To get the fps, you can enable steam overlay (can hard conflict with script extender), or use a 3rd party app like FRAPS.

Steam Overlay has a FPS Counter.

I just said this, if you bothered to read.

FPS doesn't seem to effect the intro, here is what I feel is correct

notice how the animation is sync with the dialogue, if you check oxhorn's video I posted above, father starts with his animation even though mother is still talking. Again a small gripe, but I hope posting this can show the difference.

Wait. Are you using a control, or kb+m?
If using kb+m then how many saves do you have?

Interesting. Then vibration and controller isn't the issue, as it can cause a sync/ stutter problem. Having a ton of saves can create issues too, but that's not it either. I'm at a loss because the intro works just fine for me.
Mattias Oct 5, 2019 @ 2:20pm
I can still sit through the intro as it leads to the tutorial when your 1 years old. its just that in the birth cutscene, the animation and the dialogue are out of sync. Animation being the one that is going faster then the dialogue. I also find it weird that the versions on console don't have this problem. I don't know maybe I should just deal with it. Odd that this hasn't been spoken before as I tried to find posts about this.
Lucifer69 Oct 5, 2019 @ 2:48pm
It's not a difference in version. The game was built for PC first then ported to console. Technically all games are.

The issue lies in the configuration of the game, ini, mods, or some wierd hardware/ software/ driver problem.
Mattias Oct 6, 2019 @ 9:18am
I guess I’ll try to tinker with the ini. If your intro works fine, what configurations do you have for your fallout 3.
Lucifer69 Oct 6, 2019 @ 9:50am
I haven't touched anything, other than the basic setup to get the game working, like archive invalidation, 4gb patch, script extender, etc. (including deleting d3d9.dll and replacing it with the one in System32, since W10 is incompatible with ENBSeries).

It's a similar setup to the stickied thread, but those files linked are a bit old (it lacks the d3d9.dll advice as well).

Do you have an iGPU and dGPU? -- integrated graphics/ discreet graphics.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
