LEVEL CAP ISSUE with BROKEN STEEL DLC
So.... I have Fallout 3 GOTY Edition installed, it plays fine, but I am stuck at Level 20. According to all accounts I have read, with the "Broken Steel" DLC, even before I can start those missions, I should have the Level Cap increased to 30 upon installation of the DLC. It greatly annoys me because I still have a ton of mssions I can do, but am stuck at Level 20. Any input on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

~Cheers~

I'm assuming he didn't a lot of noobs complain about the DLC not working never made sure it is activated.

while I am no expert, every bit of evidence I have peaced together tells me that all of the DLCs have installed.

Alrighty then.... I was half right, half an idiot. Technically all the DLCs were installed, but not activated. And yes, Kody55, while it does make me feel like a noob, I have been gaming for too long to get too mad about a game not working properly (or treat other gamers like idiots for similar problems). Although I get irritated when a game doesn't work, I try to exhaust all other options (to the best of my ability) before I start asking around about solutions.

It is okay I'm not trying to be a total ♥♥♥♥ we all have had our fair share of issues with betheda published games. Also I highly recommend the fallout 3 unoffical patch.

heh, no biggie. Also, unofficial patch.... what does this entail?

Here is the link http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/19122/? download the one that is not the mod manager version just run the exe it fixes a lot of the bugs in the game. Also if the game still crashes a lot after the patch go to your fallout ini in your documents and change inumhwthreads=2 to inumhwthreads=1.

I will have to check that out. Much obliged. Since I got you here, what is your preference, FO3, or NV?
Yautja Jul 21, 2017 @ 5:36pm
I like them both very much but FNV takes the cake because there is more situations that allow you to choose yourself instead of being forced like FO3 does sometimes.

level 1-20 with the core game. if you have the dlc it will raise your level cap to 30.
with fallout: new vegas each main dlc raises the cap by 5, for a total of level 50.
fallout 3 however only has one dlc that raise the cap by 10. "Broken Steel"

i've been playing fallout 4 and im over 200 hrs in now...amazing game and as far as i know...there is no level cap. :steamhappy:

its been making me want to revisit the previous games. (thats how i ended up here)
i hope this helps. :gordon:

I also prefer NV. I have not played 4 yet. Vast weapon and armor options, the ability to create a lot more items than in FO3. Give me Riot Gear, Old Cowboy Hat, and an Anti-materiel Rifle.

I've playing Fallout 4 a little bit it has come cool concepts but falls short in the story department even though I've found some cool lore about Mr. House and the robobrains in it.

"I hate new vegas, you have to level up twice to get a perk WTF?" -Me about 3 hours playing the game. (years ago) That being said, i couldn't have been more wrong. "I LOVE NEW VEGAS!" -me (present day) fallout:new vegas was something that i had to force myself playing (at first) before it truely grabed me. with all the dlc and the level cap raise to 50 it made it more enjoyable for me. still havent beaten "dead money" dlc (only started it) but the dlc old world blues is my all time fave dlc, and that's coming from a guy who loved mothership zeta and the pit.

I think new vegas is so good because it was made by the fans of fallout. Bethesda knows their stuff, but like anything you see, inspiration makes the idea bigger and grander. ergo Star Wars.

(forewarning....or after..warning...little buzzed from z beers.) :claugh:

New Vegas was also made by some of the original developers of Fallout 1, 2 and the unfinished Fallout 3.
