Fallout 3 - Game of the Year Edition

Iron Sights
I just bought Fallout 3 GOTY after beating fallout 4 and was incredibly disappointed that there is no to aim down the sights. This is a deal breaker to me. I know there are mods to fix this but I can tell seem to be able to get it to work.

Is there a really simple way to install these iron sight mods or quick and simple guide? I seem to be struggling quite a bi with this.

Thank you

I installed the mod you linked in NMM and I also downloaded FOSE and out it in my fallout 3 GOTY directory.

However, it still is not working. And now my pistol is weird metallic color. Any ideas?

Can't speak for everyone, but NMM has always sucked for F3 mods, for me anyway.

FOMM works without a hitch though.
It's the only mod manager I could get most mods to work with, RH Ironsights included.

uhh... fallout 3 is a nightmare to mod but once you get past through it its worth it.
Best if you redownload and start from scratch unless you know what you re doing
anyway, redownload the game or completely uninstall every mod
install fose
install rh iron sights fose (with the update patch!!!)
and then this ; www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/16787 - just the rh ironsights merged
overwrite all the files when copying the second mod

in the end the only files you will be using ( in this order )are :
RH_IRONSIGHTS.ESM
blablabla. removeReticule.esp

THEN you need to download : http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/944/?

put into game directory, open, switch it off/on ( must be on in the end ) and now it should work

If it does not then you can try installing the Iron sights merged first and then basic ironsights over it. I had a lot of trouble with those too but it eventually worked one way or the other

also god forbid you use nexus mod manager, its pure garbage. download fallout mod manager instead

I actually like the no iron sights. Don't get me wrong i totally prefer iron sights but i think aiming the assault rifle and not looking down the barrel is the coolest thing ever.

Thank you so much!! I got it working finally. Oh man I'm so excited to dive into Fallout 3 now.

Now that I understand how to mod this game, any other mods I should install? Especially ones that might enhance the graphics...

You are an idiot if you think fallout 3 is a nightmare to mod. FFS it, every bethesda fallout game and every elder scrolls game since morrowin are among the easiest games to mod for the user. They even freely give away a watered down version of their own game making software for the mod authors to use, and installing them is literally copy/paste to a central directory or run the automated installer.

That is correct. Easiest process ever.
Download FOMM.
Click mod.
Win.
How is that challenging?

Whatever you like. It's your game.

Sprint Mod is necessary, though.

some must have for vanilla that dont affect the gameplay in a heavy way :
- nmc texture pack
- some enb to enhance the graphics, midhrastic makes the game feel kinda like new vegas, melachromatic is similar to fallout 4 look, anything u find to your liking
- sprint like someone mentioned
- no blur on hit - game is sometimes unplayable with default blur
- auto aim fix ( fallout 3 has auto aim by default and it also breaks long range sniping)
- hold breath mod goes well with auto aim fix
- stutter remover for better performance
- faster waiting fix
- some weather enhancer if you re not using enb

thats pretty much it for the base game. there are other, more complex mods that change a lot and go well with other mods but for 1st playthrough its just fine
this doesnt work for me im using fomm and its still as fd up as the nexus manager, can someone give a step by step guide

Follow the guide on the mod's page. If it doesn't give FOMM instructions, try following the manual install instructions and using fomm to activate the esps and or esms involved. Also make sure you have any prerequisites the mod has are installed prior to installing it.

As for suggested mods; I generally just look through the top 100 or whatever on Nexus and grab anything that looks interesting to me. For your first play through texture replacers are probably best to start, maybe some that tweak the rate of decay on weapons or raise the amount of loot. I remember having a hard time with ammo for the first couple hours when I first played.

Some fun additions are FOOK 2 for more gun varieties, new armors and a mod that lets you repair using scrap (forget the exact name, but it's one of my favorites).

Play New Vegas instead of this garbage
