Can't find my CD-KEY

I installed the GOTY edition a while ago from the CD i boutht. The game requires the CD to launch, even though it's installed on my PC. Thats why i want to add it to steam, but i can't find the product key! I am not even sure if there was ANY key in the box, since you always need the CD anyway.

any help to find the key?

You don't need a CD-Key. That's only used to access the Games For Windows Live network, which no longer exists anyway. It's not needed to play the game itself. I have the disc version myself, and I have never needed to enter in the key.

i understand, but the point is, that i want to add the game to my steam library. and i assume i need a key for that?

I don't think so. There is no key for the game itself, only for the Live access. If you really want to use it with Steam so bad, why don't you just buy it from them the next time it goes on sale? You should be able to get it for dirt cheap then.

BTW, you don't need the CD to run the game. Just launch it through the Fallout3.exe file, not the FalloutLauncher.exe one. Or better yet, install FOSE and use that to launch the game. The disc check is only in the FalloutLauncher.exe file.
