Who picked the classic cars?
Enjoying classic mode a lot, but who picked the cars?
There are some all time classic cars missing that should have been picked way before half the ones included were, where's the McLaren MP4/4 or the williams FW11 and why was the horribad FW12 included, I seem to remember even at the time it was regarded as a heap so why include it now, cant be a licencing problem.

Apparently Mclaren already have exclusive rights to another game... Im guessing its Simraceway as they have lots of Mclaren cars for DLC.. Which meant Codies were not allowed to include any of the Mclarens.. Gutted!

That's a real shame.

I wonder what the licence rights are with Benetton or Jordan cars. Mind you, I wouldn't mind a few rubbish F1 cars to play with like the Life L190 as well.

I wonder if there would be some way they could just get licence rights to a whole season - I'd probably prefer that rather than a weird random mix of cars from different seasons. One can dream.

I wish they'd brought Jaguar back. Those cars may have not been the best but they had class, especially with Webber in it.

And they had one of the most sexy liveries ever.

If the some of best drivers/cars are missing it will be down to a licencing issue. Do you honestly think they would miss them out? It's a huge selling point.

I nearly said that too. You are so right! :-)

The issue isn't just with fnding who owns the rights to defunct teams and their chassis.. but also getting the agreement of the original sponsors.

Don't expect to see Jordan anytime soon and I wouldn't hold your breath for Benetton ever. :(

Same for Jag I guess.

Minardi should be doable. Both rights owners are still around so no ambiguity, everyone with any soul loves them and most of their sponsors went out of business (European, OZjet et al) so rights issues there shouldn't be too troublesome - especially if held by receivers who just want a quick buck.

Cigarette sponsors won't need to be contacted so actually what's left other than the petrochemical industries? I dunno - just putting this out there.

Lotus 72 JPS Special - oh those heady days :-)

Or the Tyrrell P34

yeah shame about mclarens if its true of course!..would love to have tried the mansell/senna last 10 laps around monaco in 92..either as senna keeping mansell behind him in a much faster williams with fresh tyres.while his car was on worn tyres..or as mansell trying to get around sennas MP4 mclaren....

Would be fun to drive around in the old Minardi as Pierluigi Martini..

I agree about some of the Williams cars chosen for the game.. Like the hopeless 1998 car :P

Also, some of the classic cars have their onboard gauges upside down or sideways, I noticed.
Woodspoon 4 października 2013 o 16:55
Pantha - the upside down dials thing is a real race car detail, I cant remember the reason for it now but it is a real detail, looked in quite a few old race cars and lots of them do it.
I think it's something to do with only needing to look at the one part of the dial so it gets put in optimal line of sight.

Back to the point though
very puzzled as to why the FW11 isn't included, they've got a Williams licence and a Honda licence sow why skip an all time classic car?
Mansell and Piquet's 87 & 88 season were epic

It's easier to see the needle that way. Especially at high speed with all the vibrations the old cars had. Here is a picture of the actual Lotus from 1986.

86/87 :P - 88 was only epic for the McLaren team ;)

The question is: why can't I drive the classic cars on the new tracks? Or I haven't figured out how I can do that. 4 tracks are not enough for those fantastic cars!

I do agree although I suspect (if I were cynical) that we have just been given a taster so DLC can be sold later down the line of which I would be happy with as I have never had a problem with this. Well I did, but I got over it.

Or..

It's a simple foray and excercise into scoping out the reactions of us (the customers) with the aim of perhaps adding a full Classic mode into the next version of a CM F1 game if indeed there is to be one.
