Limiting game to 30 FPS sorts out many problems.
Hi there all.

I did not discover this bug my codemasters but I have been doing some experiments. Article from main forum : http://community.codemasters.com/t5/F1-2013-Technical-Assistance/Yet-again-the-Track-does-not-rubber-in-etc-SORT-IT-OUT/td-p/372644/page/12

Observations thus far:
  • Track rubbers in you see a dark rubber line around corners and braking points.
  • Increased grip levels as the race goes on.
  • Tyres seem to last and handle better.
  • Replays from flashbacks are much longer in length of time.
  • Being able to set fastest lap times at the end of the race due to above rather than nursing the car home.

If you have a Display Unit that can do 60hz and Nvidia Card

Using NVIDIA control panel -- Manage 3d settings -- Program Settings --F1 2013
Set Vertical sync to adaptive Half refresh rate, I also set Maximum Pre-rendered Frames to 4, which smooths the strobe effect and actually helped with contoller too.

If you cannot use above method then using software NV inspector or ATI equivalent, you can limit frame rate to 30.

While this is not ideal for many players and does take a little getting used to at first, it does make a huge difference from my observations in how the game plays and some of the issues that I have had and read on these forums.

Massive thanks to Unfer37 and Schoof for putting their heads together and finding a solution to track not rubbering in, which then led to other things seeming to work.

I find it strange I have not encountered any of the mentioned bugs yet. I play at max settings with frames well over 100 and track rubbering is present and so are marbles along the sides of the ideal race line.

Thats strange I have been playing on my old graphics card at 100fps and i5-3750k and not till now having limited FPS do I see it, or the benefits of it. Looking at many of the communities pictures they are not getting rubbering in on track like I wasn't.

I'm glad you have not had the same issues myself and many have had :)

im asking because many guys thought they had the racingline until seeing pics like above...

More or less, maybe on the lighter side over longer races 50%,100%. Have not noticed any rubbering in on 25% in my experience. For me it has been noticeable.

Edit: I cannot comment on being able to set fastest lap times during the last stint of the races, i have never had to nurse the car home before. Lap times for myself and the rest of the AI have been quite consistent throughout the whole race, faster during the later stages maybe due to lighter fuel load.

do the 30 fps trick and you will get the racing-line on 25% races! the line will start appearing around lap 3!

Wow, you're right! This is something codemasters should adress ASAP. Playing in 30 fps is far from optimal

I don't have any of these bugs (not saying you don't) and I tried 30fps to make sure and the racing line rubbers in just like it does at 60fps. It's strange that some don't get the track rubbering in and some do....

Am i right in saying tyres wont last as long on track due to the lack of the rubbered line?

So From what I understand, I've been playing career mode in my first year in game and currently in my 2nd year season without a rubbered in track due to this problem/glitch in coding? -_-

...that explains why I have to drive so slow sometimes or so cautiously due to tyre wear and lack of rubbered-in-track towards the end of a tyres stint or towards the end of a race. I've seen it once or twice in a couple of races though...and never really given it much attention as i assumed my career cars would have same grip levels with/without it, and that my tyre conservation just wasn't good enough. -_- cool bug/glitch i guess, never complained about them with F1 games from codies, but this bug is bad.

Actually now I'm trying it out on 100% race like I normally do and I think the op is right lol...... After 7 laps the racing line is a lot darker than at 60 fps. I bet everyone else who thinks they have a dark line (like I did) don't even know there's anything wrong, but the racing line does go a LOT darker at 30fps.

thats excatly what i said above... many people dont even know that they are missing sth!

I just tried it in a 100% race as well on 30 FPS I didn't start to notice darker lines until lap 17, for me lap 1-12 were no different than at 60 fps or 120 fps.

I can start to see the difference after 25+ laps, however I still notice the rubbering in on higher FPS and doesnt really bother me at all. If this affects performance however I have not noticed at all. I havent had the need to nurse or slow down torwards the last laps even on pretty worn tires.

This is pretty interesting though, would like to see what CM has to say about this.

I've noticed I have had marbles on the track in the past, however I've just done a 25% race at Melbourne and have not had any marbles or rubbered-in line.

I have a feeling that in career it has been affecting my tyre wear greatly. Also, by not having the racing line appear at all in my game I think i've just assumed thats the norm for what the track should look like. Looking at screenshots on the Cm forums, I can quite confidently say that the rubbering-in of the track is not happening in my game as it looks totally different to what I am seeing in my game.

Hope this gets brought up by CM themselves and sorted out.

This really needs to be sorted...
markjames264 Oct 20, 2013 @ 11:57am
yea i have no rubberd in track mine is just plain
smidlee Oct 20, 2013 @ 12:20pm
It's the same with me. 30 fps I can see the line dark after 3-5 laps but It's tough getting used to dropping from 60 fps to 30 with triple screen.
