Not a heat problem. My card is running fine.60c.
It's this sorta stuff that deflates you and you think why play again?
I have MSI Afterburner running in the background.
Could that be it?
No way I'm uninstalling it.
Best program ever for controlling my vid card's fans.
It's either F1 gets fixed or it gets the boot up the bum.
Really enjoying F1 2013 which is what is more frustrating.
Best game in the series well without the black screens.
Might uninstall that.
My game was always crashing on spain. Get to maybe lap 6 or lap 7 and it would die with the above mentioned issue every time. Tried this GP maybe 20 times and it died consistently.
Then I found on a thread on the Grid 2 forum that could help. Grid 2, also written by Codemasters, likely running the same engine or a slight varient also had people having this exact same problem.
The solution on Grid 2 is to add "-safemode" to the command line parameters for the game. Now when you boot up the same it looks awful. It throws the resolution to lowest and all graphics options to it's lowest. BUT you can then go in to settings and turn all this back on.
First thing I noticed when I did this was that the Rain in Spain was never to be seen again. The rain was gone but since I think the weather in career mode is hard-coded, my race engineer kept telling me about how the rain was about to stop. The rain was actually gone, not just not rendered as everyone went out on options instead of intermediates.
So after adding "-safemode" the game now allowed me to run the full length of the race.
One thing I did notice is that this were getting warmer than normal with this swich on. My MoBo decided it needed to crank all case fans up to 100% which doesn't even happen on skyrim.
Conclusion: Either the rain is what is knackering everyone (people who have this crash when not in the rain please correct me) or safemode switches off some optimizations that are crashing the game that are nothing to do with the graphics options which would make sense since things got quite a bit warmer.
Give this a try and good luck
Every time I've had it it's been without rain, and there have been other topics on this forum where people have said rain is not the trigger too.
A lot of people seem to think thast rain is the cause, and in some cases there does seem to be a correlation between rain stints and the crash. But I can categoricaly state that rain is not the only cause, if it is a cause at all.
