I tried the keyboard just to see how it felt, and boy it was really bad compared to my wheel.
Loosing positions is normal, since the ai cars havn't gone into the pits yet. But loosing speed in just two laps isn't normal.
I find myself; I'm in the redbull, and lets say ill be 12th on the grid cause I suck. When lights go out Ill be past be malrussia, caterhams, force indas, and rossos. Even on rich mix, and full kers. However, then by braking late, and "friendly using their cars as bumpers" Ill get like 5th. But then by keep on braking late Ill pass them.
I use a keyboard aswell. but Mines mechanical, so its either Im turning or I'm not. So In some corners I do tangent lines to the curve, meaning its not one continous turn its a acelerate stop turn, repeat.
I'm looking for some "artificial reality" - when I'm generally faster than Hulkenberg and slower than Grosjean, I'd like to land somewhere between them on the grid and to have a chance to fight them during the race. The outcome is: I'm next to Hulkenberg at start, getting passed by him and 5 others, then overtake 10 cars. Struggling to block Grosjean and slowing down him and guys behind him while having 15-25 gap (growing about 1 sec./lap) to the next driver. It's like this almost every race.
Keyboard is better than pad for me. I feel more control. It's the way better than in F1 2010. Once upon a time I've been playing Grand Prix 2, 3 and 4 for long years on keyboard, so I have an experience. :) I've never liked messing with all these setup factors, that's why I pick short weekend and only normal difficulty.
