How to finish the KERS/DRS in the young driver?

I'm trying to finish the day one challenge in the young driver section and it keeps complaining about I didn't use the KERS or DRS fast enough around the track. What do I need to do to actually finish this challenge so I can get started on the career?

First, use kers at the start, just like the video said this will make the best performance gain when you use it at the start line. And make sure you use ALL of the KERS aswell as using DRS when ever possible.

Well that was annoying but I finally got past it. As soon as the DRS lit up, I hit the Y button (using the controller), and then once I got past the 2nd DRS area I hit the LB button and brake too. I must have done something right as it finally opened up the career mode.
