Mini-FAQ & Official Game List for Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story
Hey all, wanted to post some baseline info on this project now that it's announced. We'll be offering more as we get closer to release next year.

Who is Jeff Minter?
Jeff is one of the UK's most legendary and fiercely independent game developers, with a signature vibrant, psychedelic style and a career that spans 40 years. He is best known for home computer games like Gridrunner and Attack of the Mutant Camels, as well as his light synthesizers and the Atari Jaguar game, Tempest 2000.

Can I get just the games without all the videos and museum stuff?
Nope.

Why?
The Gold Master Series is built around the concept of an "interactive documentary" -- that games themselves are the best medium to tell gaming's history. You can get games anywhere; our goal is to give them historical context. For more information, check this out[www.digitaleclipse.com].

UPDATED: When will this be available?
March 13, 2024. Here's a launch trailer:

I loved Llamatron: 2112 back in the day on my ST (I am old). A very good, highly addictive reimagination of Robotron. Does this version support twin stick controls?

I couldn't be happier that Jeff Minter is the subject of your next documentary/compilation! :steamhappy:

Love his work, and hopefully this release will allow a new audience to experience his "trippy", but addictive, games.

I wish I didn't have to wait until 2024 for it, though. :flamey_happy:

Best possible option for Gold Master Series, but I have two questions:
How much will it cost? And how much will the price be in other countries?

Man. This thing is going to be so special. Thank you all so much for the amazing work you do. My friends & I are all currently losing our collective minds over this news right now & I just wanted to express my excitement without making a whole new thread about it & cluttering things up.

Mad respect for doubling down & committing to the documentary format for these. I really just want to applaud ya for refusing to be halfway about telling Jeff Minter's story. I genuinely cannot think of a more qualified team for him to be working with on this sorta thing than yours.

Anyway. This is my new most anticipated game. Thanks for taking this one on.

This is going to be awesome. Day one purchase for sure. I've always regarded Minter, Jarvis, and a few other (today) somewhat underappreciated gamedevs as every bit as pivotal and important to my experience of video games over the years as far more well known devs, regardless of the relative complexity of their projects.

Will Tempest 2000 have spinner support?

I'm looking forward to Gridrunner Remastered. Having played Digital Eclipse's Invasion of the Buffet Snatchers and Candy Creeps I would love to see a reimagined by Digital Eclipse title as well.

I wonder if some of the others will be released later on? I'm thinking of Photon Storm and Traxx (although I imagine the soundtrack on this one could be problematic, due to its similarity to Amidar).

Yes -- as it does in Atari 50, this version of Tempest 2000 completes Jeff's partial attempt at adding analog support to the original Jaguar cart. You can use a mouse or spinner with it. It was something our engineers were very happy to figure out how to finish up on Jeff's behalf!

This will also feature the 60fps mode, which is optional and can be toggled on or off by the user. That was not originally planned, that was just something our engineers realized they could add. :)

There are currently no DLC plans.

Don't have that information yet. I think I'll find out when we're a bit closer to release.

Yes. Works fine with a modern Xbox controller here at my desk!

Thanks, that's great. I actually ordered a spinner just before this title was announced. Looking forward to it.

It's coming in 2024, but no specific release date or price are available just yet. Look for that info in the new year.
