I would not recommend buying the game since the game has serious problems with some graphics cards, especially AMD, and causes the game to CTD without an error. Asked for help, and the Brink Community in form of Neven only said "dude i also have an amd i got no problems its your fault blabla". Don't buy it if you expect others to play with you. At this point of time, it's rather a Multiplayer simulation rather than actual multiplayer
Brink online multiplayer can be played without the official servers, while we waiting to Bethesda and Steam dev fix servers bug, here's how it looks on our user server =X=, few days ago.... ;)
Here you can see why the Brink is the best FPS object based multiplayer game...

Enjoy!
I'm no beginner but i still suck buckets xD Gathered 100h since the release (bought it on day2).
Btw in order to contribute this thread, i can't lie, every time i connect on the only working server remaining, there ain't much people, just 2 or 3 players at best. And when i' getting invite i have work to deal with IRL. What this game miss now is F2P. I know some will find it weird, but i prefer seeing people playing like jerks for their first months than playing with bots for a decade.
If there is a petition, i'd like to see it.
I played mainly Slim Medic. I so suck at taking people down (hate brink weapons), but i like the way the bodytype can modify the gameplay. All i do is slide while providing seringes and flee like a rat in the first walljump ♥♥♥♥ around. Feels like tf2 scout but even more handy.
So this game would have more people if shoot system was more interesting imo (dunno why but WET had better one in my memories). Now Titanfall came and i must admit its parkour is very good comparing to Brink's. Smoother.
And SplashDamnit is working on Dirty Bomb which may or not be a good game, still it's not brink related and i'm not interested in this one.
I play in last time a lot Dirty Bomb, a game that should inherit Brink. Only here you can see how Brink has the perfect solutions in all segments. They are trying to make a game that does a same things as Brink but on slightly different way, thus an object-based FPS multiplayer. However, it shows that the game is extremely challenging and requires a very good and experienced FPS players and practically should refer to the circle of people who play Brink and similar earlier SD game, and it's not a big group in relation to the number of leading FPS multiplayer titles.
Here we must first wait for the server fix, then it will show how much really has active players of Brink. Example, I can not play Brink before 23 hours due to various duties, but user -X-server is raise up at an interval of 19h-23h from EU. We need a Brink dedicated servers which are visible to all players and they can easy connect people from around the world.
