Just coming to report that updating to the latest Nvidia driver fixed any stuttering for me. I recently did a fresh install of Windows 10 after I was experiencing some weird issues in another game , consequences of screwing with the registry (not Brink) and I just updated my Nvidia drivers to the latest version. Before I did this, I was having the stuttering issue again, but with the latest update it's gone. I still keep my FPS locked with Rivaturner and haven't done anything else. Graphics settings all at maximum. V-sync off. No issues after updating the drivers.

Hey guys, accidentally stumbled on something that fixed it for me. Not sure if it'll help you guys, but it's worth a shot. I clicked the DLC link out of curiosity about what was available, and the steam overlay popped up to bring up the store page, but I noticed in the back that the game looked like it was running a lot smoother. I closed it and noticed this was actually the case. Whenever I start the game and it's choppy, I just shift+tab and back out which fixes it. Like I said, it might not help you guys, and I don't know why this affects anything, but it's worth trying and only takes a few seconds to do. Good luck and hope this helps some people.

^But strangely enough, this actually worked. So maybe the issue is actually with the Steam overlay. Still using Rivaturner and the most updated Nvidia drivers. V-sync is disabled and all other graphics settings enable.

I just installed Brink again to see how it was. It started out looking like it should smooth, no chops. I added Brink to RivaTuner with detection level set to Low and stealth mode On as I do almost all my games. Suddenly Brink went into that stutter mode, and now whether I disable RivaTuner, uninstall it and reinstall it, reboot the pc, it still does it but RivaTuner doesn't show any kind of
drastic change on the frametime or fps...

You can also hear the computer make a sound that goes along with the stuttering, but not all the time. It's one of those sounds that's like ambient noise, you can hear a faint buzzing (sometimes, not constantly) if you focus.

Brink is unplayable for me, it stutters like crazy and I can't fix it.

Did you try opening the Steam overlay when in-game, clicking something in the overlay and then closing the overlay? Surprisingly fixed it for me.

No problem ,but it was Mikafor that posted this solution. No idea why it works though! But it's a simple solution :D

I usually have the overlay turned off because for whatever reason, my keyboard likes to open it when I press a certain combination of keys. Of course, it's not the key bindings I set for it, so I dunno wtf is wrong, prolly Logitech's software or something, it's always done this for the past 5 years

This legit worked for me. Sad that I have to do this, but this games art is so sick, I just feel compelled to plaqy :/ Make sure to not have commas or anything copy and pasted in, just spaces. GL

I'm experiencing this also,

Rivva tuner says its not the framerrate, but higher than usual cpu usage but not graphics, theres another game on the same games engine and it feels and does the same thing.

Makes my eyes feel weird

Bro wtf, that fixed it for me. How bizarre. I wish there was some way to automate this without just disabling Steam Overlay altogether.

EDIT: Disabling Steam Overlay doesn't fix the problem. I think it's just some problem with Nvidia drivers... Bringing up the overlay alone doesn't fix the problem. If you click the "DLC" button on the main menu, it *does* fix the problem. I think it has something to do with loading the webpage and its images... Somehow, this forces the gfx card to run at the proper rate.

I had problems with Brink only using Workstation GPU's, but the newest Radeon Pro Drivers fixed these, the game runs smooth , no more choppyness. I'm assuming for non workstation gpus, the newest radeon drivers will also fix the framerate issues. I never had any problems really using my RX 570 8GB though.

Hey, If you still face this problem, I found a solution. It's weird it never happened to my PC just when I updated my windows to 21H1.

to fix it :
1 - Download and Install Reshade from reshade.me
2 - Install Reshade with OpenGL option and skip shader installation, you don't need any shaders and don't get any because brink gets f up.
3 - Run the game and press home and skip tutorial now head to options and turn on FPS overlay so you can see fps on game.
4 - Now go to option, Turn off V-Sync and turn it on again.
5 - FIXED!

This solution works because it inject a modified and improved opengl to brink and when you turn off and turn on vsync it will unlock the choppy fps.
