It's not really needed, you need minimal spatial awareness in this game :P

I certainly wouldn't mind having one. I sure got annoyed by having to press 'm' all the time. I know I know, the maps aren't that big and I finished this game already a couple of times ... meh.

If the map would open without delay it'll be fine though, but as it is now it takes 1 or 2 seconds #firstworldproblems etc.

No the worst thing is the AC unit sound, i have a pretty large speaker for my sound and its a constant bass pulsing, gives me a headache very fast. The map is perfectly fine.

Does the developer still considering adding the minimap? This really is the biggest issue in the game. Opening the map even takes around two seconds and you have to look at the map A LOT.

Probably won't happen, it wasn't in the posted roadmap and I think they said they don't want to do too much more to the game.
