There is no real plot in it. You're an average dude just doing day-to-day things.

Well, yeah. the Postal Dude's story is almost non-existent.
There are other slight narratives. the Taliban have been expanding into the US but have only made it as far as Paradise, a popular phallic toy has sold out, Gary coleman is a bad person that keeps getting arrested etc.
Best thing you can do is explore and see what you can find.

The protagonist, The Postal Dude (his literal name,) has recently moved to Paradise, Arizona to pursue a game development job. Your wife asks you to do some errands for her each day. However, these errands, while they may seem simple (such as "pick up milk," "pay parking citation," and "piss on dad,") will land you in increasingly ridiculous and dangerous scenarios. Will you have the patience to go about your day like a normal, sane human being, or will you give in to your violent impulses to make things just a little easier?

Of course, the answer will most likely be the latter. To that end, the game gives you tons of weapons to find with which to slaughter everyone and everything that stands in your way. The game is at its best when you are exploring and experimenting. It’s a very simple game but if you enjoy mindless wanton ultra-violence, exploring detailed non-linear levels with plenty of secrets, and a perverse sense of humor that would most likely get you fired, you would like this game.

It's a violent videogame about violent videogames, religion, terrorism, drugs, Gary Coleman and sex. Or in other words, it's pure satire.

I've always thought it's a simulator of normal guy who has a really, REALLY bad week :) Other then that it's first person free roaming game with some crazy and absurd humor. Sort of South Park type.

I always wanted a game that was like that movie Falling Down but done really really well not just some cheap low budget game.

need to see that movie :P but this is not a drama. The good thing is you can be a nice guy in Postal 2 :) you can wait in the loong line to get a milk or you can do what you cannot in RL :) I really love this game. And with free roaming... I don't mind poor budget at all :) I think it cannot be done with great budget. Games like this are not for normal people. It could not be so "controversal" with mainstream as a target.

Because even devs joined to the art of necromancy here, I'd like to add a quote from John Carmack when he was programming Doom 1: “Story in a game is like story in a porn movie, “It's expected to be there, but it's not important.” No every game has to have a story. Imagine for example some simulator or battle royale game having story. It seems a little stupid to me. And this game is more about satirizing stuff and just fun and doesn't need any story.

Anyway, in this game you make your own plot (sort of). You are here just ordinary guy (Postal dude), who has to run errands every day for his wife or himself. It's just normal stuff, like taking a paycheck or buying a milk. But as you have a very big bad luck, every day usually everything that you try to do goes wrong some way. And if you want to live it as normal person, which means waiting in lines, escaping from people trying to murder you and letting police protect you, etc. Or going postal and killing either just in self defence, or people staying in your way, or everything that moves for any reason? That's your choice and you can make your own explanation for it (there was even topic "What sort of Postal dude are you playing as?").
