Lucrative trading tips?
Hey all, does anyone have any good tips for making money selling legal goods? I know about the colour grading system in stores, but as yet, I haven't found anywhere to turn a profit.

Is it as simple as buying local (green) and then selling to colonies that import those goods (blue)?, I haven't actually seen the 'aggressive demand' peach colour yet in any of the trading ledgers.

first you must have a pursuer with the good commercial skill (the 3 commercial skill).
then buy a trade licence in curacao (308 doublons for 20 days) and buy in the south main (maracaibo, caracas, cumana, and why not san jose) products (coffe, chocolate, coton etc) that you will sell in willemstad. the travel betwen this part of the main and curacao is very quick.
you can also buy coffee in Martinique and sell it for a good price in curacao to.
and at bluewield you can buy ebony witch can be sell for good profit at jamaica or in portobello.

but again you must have the 3 commercial skill. without the skill you wil hardly make profit.

Port Royale (Jamaica) and WIllemstad (Curacao) are best places to sell:
-Coffee, Cocoa, Tobacco, Sugar, Cotton, Leather, Ebony, Mahagony, Vanilla, Copra and Paprika.

Most of these goods can be bought for lower price on Guadeloupe and Martinique if you don't want to buy trade license to visit Spanish ports.

Willemstadt / Port Roayal / St. Johns? (St Christopher Island) seem to be the capital cities of the three countries you are friendly with and they are actively searching for many products (peach colour)

Willemstadt is the best town to sell stuff as it has maybe 10 commodities in peach.

1. Amulet 'Merchant's beads' gives 15% increase of character's trading skill, can be used by Purser and is sold by monk traders in towns.

2. St Christopher, WIllemstad, Jamaica, Havana, Porto-Bello & Isla del Tesoro have warehouses in shipyards (store for Sharptown). You can store you cargo there while waiting till store in town has as few of said goods as possible since the price will be higher. Store goods from boarded ships for some days to make them "legal" so they can be fetch a better price.

3. Lighthouse keepers may offer some goods for a very low price that can be resold for a nice profit.

Awesome, thanks for the help everyone. I hadn't been to Jamaica or Curacao yet so that would explain why I hadn't seen the peach coloured items. Cheers again for the tips!

starting out, snag mahogany, ebony, vanilla from basse teri/guadaloup, and sell it at st christ. ... prices may vary depending on your purser skill, but generally after a decent purser skill i can get roughly 100p a unit profit, and once i get a decent ship or two with some cargo can easily make 100/200K per trip. its super close, super easy, and you stay within friendly waters. be careful though as when your young and starting out your purser skill sucks so your might not make any money, or loose money in the trade. but thats the same no matter what/where you go this early on in game. just check/double check the prices before you commit.

later on, once you can really haul cargo, go to blueweild, the MAKE the ebony/mahagony, so they will alway usually have some in stock. sell it at st christ. again, and make bank, i made my first 1.5M in 3 trips, filling up some heavy frigates. its a long haul though as its across the map, but good money to be had.

late game, dump your cash into banks, and let it gain intrest.
