Best Age of Pirates 2 mod

I am currently planning to play New Horizons, a mod for Sea Dogs 2 (Pirates of the Caribbean), and later I was planning to start playing Age of Pirates 2. However that is a game you simply shouldn't play vanilla since I see several great mods for it! There is this version (Sea dogs to each his own), Gentlemen of Fortune and the Gentlemen of Fortune ERA's mod. Did any of you play these? Can you tell me the differences between all these versions?

EDIT: I know the Gentlemen of Fortune mod has several different versions, which do you think is the best? Or are they similiar with different strenghts?

I played GoF mod and ERA's mod. IMO I think ERA mod is better, it's more historically accurate. You can find many ships of 17th century in ERA . In GoF mod you would even find some late 18 century's ships.

Thank you, I think I will indeed go for the eras mod! It seems it is also being worked on more than the other gof mods. I don't have a copy of age of pirates 2 lying around so when I am done with New Horizons I will put some effort into acquiring one :)
