Goof achievement

Any strategy for this achievement? I played for more than 400 hours, I bought so many treasure maps, but only one was fake. Now I started a new game, my luck is low, I have a ship with higher level that I should use and I will try use save load to generate maps sellers. Any other ideas? I know that one amulet have -50% on luck, but I do not have this amulet yet. How did you managed to get this achievement ?

I don't know if luck has anything to do with it, I think it's just a particular chance of any map you buy in a tavern being a fake. Honestly I feel like any given playthrough I get like 3 or 4 over the course of the game.

You're right. This can be done from one save. Bought, examined - there will be a signal. You can reload the save. It is best to purchase a license and travel around the archipelago. If there are two faces of pirate appearance in the tavern, then one of them has a card. If not, you can stay overnight. There will be other visitors in the morning.

Did you managed to get this achievement? I just had my 6th fake map and nothing happened. First fake map was in my first game. In the second game (when tried to get missed achievements) I managed to bought 5 additional maps. And nothing happened. On the second game I decided to get Goof achievement in a simple way. Every time when I noticed a map seller I was saving the game. If the map was real, I was just loading and ignoring the guy. When the map was fake I was buying it and continuing my game (and saving to be sure). When I obtained all other possible achievements, I had 3 fake maps in total. Then I just saved the game in the front of a tavern. With the current game version, the people in tavern are generated on first tavern visit. If the map seller was there I was saving in front of him. If map was real, I was loading the game, then skipping 24 hours (outside the tavern). Saving before a tavern again and repeating the activity. After fifth fake map, when achievement not appeared I decided to try one more (to have 5 maps in one playthrough). After 6th map, still nothing. Of course I went to global and traveled for a week to be sure, but nothing triggered. 6 maps in total, 5 in one game, saved and continued the game after every fake one and still nothing. I think this achievement is broken. I managed to get 70 / 73 achievements. From looks of it Goof, Best client and Guileless are not working.

I got this achievement. From one save. I didn't even have to wait for the change of day.

I often met card sellers. But the necessary dialogue will not occur if there is already a card in the inventory.

Two versions are currently available for installation. I have never run the version where you need to convert saves. That is, I have not played a version older than 1.7. Perhaps version 1.7.3 contains bugs?

I did not converted any saves. I just played the game twice on two different profiles. First time with all dlc. I played all missions, etc. I bought plenty of real maps, actually I used them to to find treasures. During the entire game I bought only one fake map. After opening the map it is being removed from the inventory. On the second game I uninstalled the game, installed one more time but without any dlc. I played to get all remaining achievements (and check if the broken ones are working without dlc. During the second play, every time when I noticed a map seller I just saved. Then I tried to buy the map. If the map was real I was just loading the game (I didn't want to end up with a real map and be forced to go for a treasure run). With a treasure map you can't buy another. When I found a fake map, I was buying it, opening and continuing the game. After 6th fake map, the achievement did not pop out. Honestly. Im tired of trying to score perfect game. This game is full of bugs. I tried and I tried. Life it too short. I think I will wait few months. If I will see that the problem is fixed, I may try again.

I uninstalled it yesterday, but just to give you answer I installed it again. Ver 1.7.3. ENG (26.11.21) x64

Thank you. Now everything is clear. During installation, you can choose beta version 1.7. But you've already wasted too much time. And it wasn't worth it.
